With the NCAA breathing down the basketball programs' neck, did Kiffin's departure actually benefit the athletic department. How much worse would the situation be if UT had the whole Bruce Pearl situation and Kiffin committing violations at every corner? How would the NCAA react? I'll hang up and listen.

It helped our Football Program for the long term. To go ahead and have him leave now so we can start(or should i say restart) the rebuilding process.

As for the Athletic Department, i don't see how it could have helped. With the Pearl incident event unfolding the way it has, I don't think it wouldn't have mattered either way.

There is much more of a family feel in the locker room than there ever was with Kiffin. Kiffin had the kids buying into him and the glamor. Dooley, while also bringing in a much higher character class, has these kids buying into the school and the system.

It's hard to tell what the NCAA is going to do simply because they seem to be very inconsistent. The only way Kiffin leaving helps us out is if Dooley turns out to be the answer.
