Cheek's job performance should not in anyway be tied to the football team's performance. Believe it or not, he has much more important educational things to worry about. It shocks me to read stuff like this.

We have a glorified Ron Zook. Butch can recruit but he can't get it done on the field when things get tough. I'm pissed we extended CBJ's contract.

It's not fair to compare Jones to Dooley. Dooley lost close games with no talent; Jones loses close games with plentiful talent! Let's stop insulting Dooley. :)

Is it that defense that prevents us from winning games?
I don't know why any team would punt against us, whether it's 4th and 1. Or 25.
They usually gonna get a first down!

No problem with Butch Jones not going for 2 with 10:19 to play. You expect your defense to protect a 27-14 lead. But getting off only 5 plays in the final 1:26 with two timeouts is a spectacular failure of executing a 2-minute offense. #TENNvsFLA

Then he is equally stupid. Anyone who thinks a 1td/2fg, 3 possession scenario is equally likely to a 2td 2 possession scenario is just really, really...well, stupid is being kind

and saying "you expect your defense to protect a 27-14 lead" is irrelevant..you'd expect your defense to protect a 27-21 lead with :42 left..doesnt mean kicking an xp up 26-21 would be anything other than spectacularly stupid.

Dooley won 3 conference games in 3 yrs at one of the 10 best programs in the country..if they hired a knoxville citizen by random drawing tomorrow he would have decent odds equaling that...seriously. So let's be real on jones vs dooley.

I will not disagree with the 'go for 2' call, really no-risk call. However, I do not see much else to rip the coaches over and the call to draw and quarter.

We can complain that they did not pass enough, disguise the runs, gamble enough on D, etc, but these are pretty small complaints in the scheme of the game. They executed on several 4 and longs and the defensive side, while we did not. Our team was not 'coached' into losing the game, like with OU. They lost on man-man match-ups and some luck/skill by the Floridiots.

Even with this loss, 8-4 is still there, just as predicted by the majority of this board. It will not be an easy path, but I am hopeful, because I saw a team that won on nearly every front, except 8-10 plays and the final score. Like it or not, C Jones will manage the rest of the season, unless they lose nearly every game. You can call me an idiot, but I do not see this happening.

He should be fired for the ****storm he's causing in academics.

We start well but never ever finish against quality opponents despite top tier talent th e last 3 years. At some point, when you have a 4th quarter lead by double digits you are expected to win one. Jones is running out of bricks and excuses!!!
