Even the Pride of the Southland is Out of Sync

I have to agree. The size of the band has really dropped. They have NO volume on the pregame show. I noticed that sitting 18 rows up from the field. I have also e-mailed several suggestions for improvements and at least received replies of thanks, but no thanks.

My attitude as a POTSB alum, "Who cares?"

These band members have no clue about football, and don't know the difference between offense and defense.

Also yesterday even the cheerleaders messed up. They came up into our section and started a cheer chant right when we were breaking from the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. I kept trying to tell people around me to be quiet so our offense could get there plays.

While we're at it, can we just skip over the part where the male cheerleader comes out with a microphone and barks commands at us with his husky, inaudible voice?

Anyone from the band on here? This wouldn't bother me near as bad if we had won, but wtf is going on with the band's continual showing of bad timing with playing Rocky Top when our offense has the ball?

Seriously, perhaps I've overlooked it before, but on nearly every UT offensive possession, the band went into playing Rocky Top while the offense was in the huddle. The band cuts it off when the huddle breaks, but the crowd, who is following the band's lead, continues with singing Rocky Top WHILE OUR OFFENSE IS BEGINNING TO SNAP THE BALL!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming the band for what happened yesterday at all. But, man, when everything else is going wrong with the offense, we don't need our own band/crowd shouting overtop of our offense when the play is being developed.

I kept thinking of what Peyton Manning would do up in Indy if the home crowd was yelling while he was setting up the play at the line.

Have I just missed this in years past?

Ok, I feel better now.
Not only THAT, but I took a Bulldog fan to his first game and he kept going on and on about the music selection. Raiders of the Lost Ark???Heck, a couple of years ago ....maybe last year, they played Willy Womka. CAN WE PLEASE PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO SOME EPIC WAR SOUNDTRACS or MODERN PUMP UP MUSIC!!!!!! It was pretty embarassing.

Love the band, love Rocky Top, but I have noticed the same thing these two games. Save all that wonderful racket for helping the defense. Did not contribute to the win or the loss, but still....

Did anyone notice during the moment of silence for Jessie the student section was yell or something
not sure what that was all about. I'm sure it was not on purpose but still was rude.

I noticed that.. an oblivious camera crew was in front of a small section of students telling them to make noise. They seemed to be so caught up with being on camera the y had no clue about the moment of silence. :bad:

I heard Enemy by Green Day through the TV. My 15 year old neice thought it was cool and I asked her where she wants to go to college. She considered UT simply because she likes that song and the stadium looked cool.

She said they should do that black eyed peas song. Something about tonights gonna be a good night.

They hit the WOOOO right at the snap at least once this week and did it on the snap of one of JC's interceptions against WKU.

I am not saying it had anything to do with the interception, but it bugged me hearing this happen time after time.

It is my fault i opened a soda at home and Crompton must have been distracted through the tv set. Sorry Volnation

I'm guilty, too. I had my granddaughter "pull my finger" and emitted one of those dreaded "fuzzy fleeps" just as Cromp Daddy released the overthrown ball on the wide-open route down the middle. Very distracting. Probably cost us six. But it won't happen again. I started a 12-Step Plan right after the game. I'll be holding them in from now on, even if it takes years off my life. :naughty:

This is wrong on so many levels to say the least. Just because kids are in band, does not mean they know or don't care anything about football. Actually, some of the biggest fans and well informed people i know are in the Pride.

It's nice when people offer up their idiocy for all to see. Why hide it online when you can wear it on your sleeve?
