I'm so disappointed that this is the state of our program.
Only a mindless d-bag would argue that Chris Todd and Jon Crompton are equal talents.
Chris Todd also had how many years at Texas Tech who runs a similar, albeit not exact, offense?
I think it's more feasible that you end up starting Stephens which would make starting him for the rest of the year the "right" option. By doing what Kiffin is doing, by simply making an example out of Crompton, he's pretty much throwing the season anyways. If he's doing that, then he might as well get some meaningful snaps for Stephens since the games don't matter anymore.
His articulate writing suggests otherwise---and that he is more intelligent than 90% on this site.
Argue if you will----and I know you will--but all of his points are dead on. Dented that brick wall yet?![]()
Stephens will not be our starting QB next year. It will be Bray or another recruit (if we get another).

You don't know jack! Nobody knows who will be the guy next year. Anything can happen. What we do know is that #8 will not beat any SEC team this year with the exception of maybe Vandy. Kiffin has already wasted half the season with his stubborness and plans to throw away the rest.
not a pleasant read but I am afraid he is correct on some points. The only thing I really would argue is CLK's record as a head coach. Oakland was a terrible football team and UT is below average in the SEC and D1. The 2012/13 seasons will be a better gauge of the coaching. You can't shoot anyone with an empty gun.
Whether he is or isn't, that puts the team one injury away from playing him. The team may recruit another quarterback but right now Bray is it. So if Bray gets hurt, you're calling it a season? I would at least like Stephen's to get as much experience as possible even if he is a back up. Never know when we will need him. Crompton will be off doing whatever he is doing but I know he won't be here.

I'm so disappointed that this is the state of our program. I didn't expect an immediate turn around and I will never jump ship as a Vols fan, but this is just painful. I hate seeing a team I love so much at the bottom of the barrel. :cray:
You are right, I don't know jack and you don't either.
Why so hostile?
I will be willing to bet that Stephens is not our starting qb next year. You tell me what you want to bet.
Bray will be here this winter. I fully expect him or another recruit to beat out the guy who can't take the job from Crompton.
I don't think "the state of the program" is nearly as bad as you seem to think it is. You don't have a QB, plain and simple. Outside of that fact, the rest of the "program" doesn't seem in bad shape....at least not from the outside.
They need to start Stephens for 2 or 3 games. Even though Crompton beats him in practice, he obviously isn't playing the same way in the game. Some guys are "practice rep" guys, and some guys are "game day" guys. Stephens needs enough PT so coaches can see what kind of "game day" player he is this year.
Our offense and the Texas Tech "air raid" offense are extremely, extremely different. Not to mention, after leaving TT, he went to junior college and had horrible stats. Then hurt his shoulder, then got benched last year, then had surgery and came back this fall, missing all of spring and summer.
I think Todd is a capable leader, and is pretty mature with some decent physical skills. But honestly, it can not be overstated how important the coaching of Malzahn has been for him.
I'm hostile because I have to keep watching this horses butt wearing #8 take the field every weekend and it's screwing up my world. Seriously I think it's driving me nuts.
I'll bet you Crompton doesn't beat UGA, Bama, SC, or Ole Miss.
So we should go with a guy who can't even beat JC in practice?
I agree with most of the article by Travis. I don't think anybody with a set of eyes can form a legit argument for most of those points. Theres' no way they're worse than this year though.
