Even If We Had Won, The Officiating Needs Addressing

Yeah ... never blame the refs, just play better. Go tell the New Orleans Saints that bad calls are just an excuse and that they are just whiny babies ... sheesh !!!

The Saints should've put the ball in the endzone instead of field goals. They do that once, they win in regulation.

Truth is ... bad officiating coast the NO Saints the NFC and a Super Bowl berth. Similarly, bad officiating cost UT this game. It's really not that hard.

Wrong. There's always something the team does, or doesn't do, that causes the loss. Unless a team plays perfect, that will always be the case. It's not difficult to see that 13 turnovers, not finishing around the basket, and terrible game awareness cost this one.

I'm a blue hair that sits right next to the student section by the band. I've been to every game this season, I cheer louder than most of the students around me. The only student section that gets rowdy is behind the goal. The others that sit across the court from our bench mainly just sit and text on their phones.
Thanks for being a fan and cheering. Seriously...no sarcasm in my post.
But you and a few others are the exception and not the norm.

I agree. Most of the " blue hairs" sit and watch and don't do much more than clap their hands. However, our students, for the most part, are very subdued as well. I have even going to games since I was a kid as well as student ( at Stokely) and have always cheered as loud as I can.

While this game wasn’t the bar room brawl at Ky last week, it is very clear that teams are being allowed to play pretty dirty vs Williams in particular.

UT has gone away from their game and letting the opposing team dictate the play. They don't go inside and muscle the ball to the goal because the refs will call a charge (even if the opposer's feet are not set). We take shots while being mauled but no whistle and go to the other end of the floor and pass gas on them and get a whistle on us. PATHETIC Pisses me off to watch the way we are getting abused and the refs are blind to the fact. Call an honest game and let the best team win; does this exist anymore?

That is what I am starting to see but maybe it's my orange colored glasses. Just don't seem to be an even whistle.

We get a lot of fouls called on us for a veteran team. You'd think we'd play smarter basketball. Just the same though, the play doesn't seem to be equal at times, because we get called for the same thing the other team is doing on the other end of the floor. We just don't get the benefit of the doubt as much as you'd think they would.. I know Barnes style is to not harass the refs all game like Wade did, or Calipari. That does seem to favor the guy doing the whining though or maybe it just seems that way.

Most of what I’m reading by the media isn’t very flattering for the officials. Most complaint about how the constant reviews and the last call ruined an otherwise great game.

Yes, Tennessee needs to play better...... however rrrr...anyone defending SEC OFFICIATING AINT PLAYING WITH A FULL DECK. It's truly horrible. And yes it can cost a team the game and often does.

Officiating was bad but the Vols blew it:
--7 pt lead and a flagrant 1 foul on LSU: LT missed both free throws and Pons walked in the open court, Vols gave up a 3 and it was on
--Had a 5 pt lead iwith 1:57 left and the ball.

LSU was more physical, more confident and just flat out tougher than the Vols all day. Let a freshman guard drive to the basket at will the entire second half. Beat the Vols without their best player in the line up.

Vols have lost their edge and at times looked scared today. Then still have a shot to win at the end and Lamonte Turner takes a terrible shot and then fouls a guy on the other end of the floor with less than a second left. Dumb basketball
sums it up perfect -- sucks big time to lose that way

Now, somewhere around 5 hours later, I’ve had to calm down and look at that last call more objectively and I’d like to say...

It’s still inconceivable to me to make that call... Literally inconceivable.

The no call where Grant clearly hits Waters in the head at the end of regulation was worse
