Even If We Got Gruden

one im a girl and 2 its how most of our fans are win games or coach needs to go

Sorry for the gender assumption, however you're still sorely mistaken. Yes, our fanbase expects to win and as they rightfully should. Any traditional program would not put up with what we're experiencing. Please stop starting stupid threads about this kind of stuff. No one would expect Gruden (or anyone else) to right the ship in year one. But by year three?? You bet your butt they better be, and WILL BE winning. You know why? They've proven they can do it.

Fair enough, but I think you're wrong. Most of us are smart enough to see improvement, even if it doesn't mean instant wins. We see next year's schedule as much more difficult than this year's and I doubt many of the reasonable fans wanting change are expecting to see 9 wins next year.

Key word being reasonable. If gruden didnt have a good first year this message board wood still be lit up with the UNreasonable.

Yeah, the people that were saying we shouldn't fire Dooley would light it up, the rest (or reasonable) people would be more than happy to give him time, because they aren't mentally deficient

All we need as a fan base is to see FIGHT in our team for an entire game...every game.

If our current team was going down to these giant adversaries with heart, fight and conviction, we would be singing a different tune.

Last night I was texting back and forth with a friend of mine, who is a Bama alumnus (I know, I know), and every time (at least often) we made a huge mistake...I called the situation before it happened.

I'm not claiming to be a football guru, my point is that our lack of leadership is completely obvious and we have zero chance of seizing opportunities when they are given to us...FREE. We cannot expect 18-22 year old kids to understand how to get in and out of jams. We have to have leadership that guides them and puts them into high percentage situations...which is not happening consistently enough.

The only thing, I see, that we can blame on some of our players is their conviction behind the game and fortunate situation they are in as players in the SEC and more importantly at The University of Tennessee. All that is asked is that they take responsibility in themselves from day one...and commit themselves to their scholarship and the real reason they are given a free opportunity to attend this institution: they are trading their football talents for a free enrollment and education.

I'm not naive enough to think all these players should look at education first, because that's not why they are here...in reality. But at least take the trade seriously and give the team and university what you agreed to when you signed the letter of intent.

I believe there are more players on the team than not, that give us their football souls, but there are a few dudes with tudes that have the ME IN THE NFL approach to their situations...a spoiled brat attitude, if you ask me. Appreciate what you have been offered, feel honored for what has been given to you and do your part.

You are contagious and terribly toxic to the rest of the team. Wake up and smell the roses...cuz you ain't shlt til you show some heart.

As a disclaimer, thank you so much to those players that have given yourselves to us this season...you know who you are!!!! The true warriors!

You're going to have that anywhere. I don't listen to the people that are never going to be happy.

There's no defending Dooley at this point, however. He's had 2.5 years to show progress, and has shown progress in some areas such as O-line and the running game, but other areas have regressed horribly. Game management is still an issue. On-field discipline is still an issue. These shouldn't be issues in year three. Recruiting is not good enough to compete in the top half of the SEC, especially when the coaching in many areas is sub-par.

There will always be the national championship next year crowd, but is a very small minority. People will be happy if they see good coaching, good recruiting, and a positive direction.

It would be a combination of both and you know it!! All im saying is you will allways have that type of mentality that will never be sastisfied with anything but instant sucess as well as those who dont grasp reality of the present situation.

It's going to take anyone time to get UT back in shape, but with a guy like Gruden at the helm atleast some measure of consistent progress will likely be seen. With Dooley it's consistent fail. He's running most of UT's long standing records into the dirt.

Can agree here. Its the minority that just grates on my nerves.

You may have an occassional misinformed fan that would say that even before he coached a single game. But the overwhelming majority of Vol fans are simply not that ignorant.

Luckily we have close to 50 dbs from the last three recruiting classes to build on.

Yep, CDD is totally pathetic and has done nothing with recruiting either, LOL.

I don't see any future NFL players in the only 2 recruiting classes that CDD brought in, LOL.

Oh wait...McCullers, Sentimore and maybe 1 or 2 more of our D line, at least 2 LB's and maybe 1 or 2 DB's...Most of our O line, Hunter, Patterson, maybe a TE.

H3ll we only have maybe 18 to 20 future NFL players that CDD has brought in with only 2 recruiting classes but we haven't improved 1 tiny bit, LOL.

Lets not even think about letting those JUCO players adjust to the SEC and lets not give the sophs and Freshmen time to learn and get some real game experience because everyone already knows they'll never make it, LOL.

Lets fire a coach after him only getting 2 of his recruiting classes on campus, LOL.

Firing CDD will prove to every other coach in America that we're a great fanbase and we know all about how long it takes to recruit, rebuild an entire football program and Win in the SEC, LOL.

Yep, CDD has brought in only crap players that can't learn a new 3-4 D in 6 months even though the Professional NFL players takes 2 years to learn it well and they practice 10 to 12 hours a day but classes for school, homework, ect shouldn't slow down 18 to 22 year old kids on our college team, LOL.

Yep, laMe kiffScum is a great coach according to most here and he was a GREAT recruiter too...oh wait...Most of laMes recruits don't play much and are roster fillers but WAIT, Most of laMes recruits are NOT even at Tennessee anymore but many here still say he was a great recruiter for Tennessee, LOL.

Yep, money is NO problem according to most here BUT our AD Mr Hart just did a 2 part interview and he said UT is basically BROKE but everyone here says we can get $20 Million at the drop of a hat around here, LOL.

Read what all AD Hart actually said at Alabama Local News, Breaking News, Sports & Weather - al.com

Since most everyone here are excellent coaches and ADs I don't know why we even pay anyone to do those jobs since all the experts are here.

LMAO !!!

Send in your resume's folks and I'm sure 1 of you can be the new AD and another here is HC material and all the other coaching positions can easily be filled right here on VN, LOL.

crap, I'm so smart I can be the AD andd the HC so send me your resume' and i'll find my assistant coaches here pretty fast and we'll instantly Win 9 or 10 games next year easily, LOL.

Am I just having fun and all of this is just sarcasm or am I serious?

Only me, myself and I know for sure, LOL.

Here is my best guess....a coaching candidate will check the film and see how pitifully this team is managed, taught and coached. They will be pleased (for a fee) to coach here simply because they will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can't do any worse.

Even if we got Gruden, and he hired the best staff, and we had even one bad yr everyone would be saying what a bad hire, and he needs to go

No we would not. Because we would have a defined goal that we are trying to reach, Gruden will not put up with sub-par results.

The Dooley contingent has resorted to logic that's akin to a battered wife trying to convince herself to stay...

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm fairly certain Gruden can count to 11, and that's something Dools hasn't mastered. That's enough for me.

Why would gruden want to coach here? I mean i think this is an elite job but he would be making about the same money for more headaches. Let's be realistic

but like with dooley people wont give him time

Dooley's had plenty of time. Id rather take my chances with a coaching change than to sit and watch the same horrible results every week in this league. A new coach is the best thing that could happen because it can't get any worse than it is.
