Eva Westbrook's comment on facebook

Please explain from middle school on up and watching hundreds of lady vol games over the years and seeing how weak of a coach Holly is and seeing that previous players are not being developed or pushed to reach their potential why these young ladies and their parents made the choice to play for Holly?

Ask them.

Where in my imagination did I say she wouldn’t leave because of Holly? I said it would be a well thought out decision AND I said Eva and the other parents of our LV always gush about Knoxville🤔 I didn’t say coaching wouldn’t be a factor but as far as fans running her that’s when I mentioned the parents and how they gush about how they are treated by fans in Knoxville. That has nothing to do with CHW.

Now in your imagination you may have wanted me to say her decision was solely based on CHW but my comment was on based on the person attacking Evina and the other posters who said she didn’t get support.

Thanks for the clarification.

My thought is that players have to ignore fans they must. You can't transfer because a fan says something or WCB would be nothing but a transfer portal. Where our team needs to improve the most is defensively and that is everyone on the team. None of them are very good defensive players. They do seem to have the ability when they want to expend some energy to get it done that is not very often however.

I'd rather have too many than too few!
That's another story.
Having lost Cooper, Hayes and Middleton hasn't helped the situation that we're in.
Do we currently have too few players, or too few effective players ?
I think we have enough talented players.
Certainly enough to play much better than we currently are. The trick is to extract that ability and turn it into a cohesive basketball team.

For this generation what gets posted is more important than what is said to them in person

How do we even know this person wasnt just stirring the pot. If Evina leaves I am sure it won’t be because the fans don’t show her love and support. Her mom often post about how much love she receives when visiting Rocky Top. If she leaves I’m sure it’s a personal and well thought out decision and it may be because her family and her are so close and leaving home wasn’t what she thought.

I look at other posts by parents and they rave about the hospitality and the love their daughters are shown.

Off topic but I wonder if the staff will bring in some low post help to help bring along the youngins and give KK some help down low ?
I think it is a mistake to assume that comments on this and other boards do not influence the attitudes of players and their parents. A lot of cruel things are posted on social media and the deed is done before the brain can review the actions of the fingers. Evian is our best player and there is no logical reason for less than intelligent fans creating these problems. It seem to happen on all college sports boards. I guess it is the manner in which the new generation does its business.

I’m pretty sure both Evina and her mom are smart enough to not consider transferring based upon what fans are saying. More realistically, there is probably more going on behind closed doors than any of us know and with the dumpster fire of a season the lady Vols are having, its possible that transferring had already emerged as an option. Fans criticizing her directly is probably just the nail in the proverbial coffin.

The 2016 recruiting year with just Kam signed did not help either. Potentially, we could have had some quality juniors if we had signed a few of the targets.

I hear what your saying but for every mean thing said I see 4 great things about Evina... My post was just looking at what the family’s of the players have said about their feelings of being in Rocky Top.

AS a UConn fan who appreciates what LV BB means to the WBB universe, I can not agree more. Some of you are not a help to your program. Try to find a way to make your comments in a more positive note.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but the whole situation is symptomatic of a larger problem. It's the strange assumption, not just by, say, the mother of a player, but by even reputable news agencies, that a few posts on a forum or on Facebook or Twitter represent "the fan base". They don't. The vast majority of fans aren't spouting off on social media, and the ones who are (such as myself) pick and choose when they spout off. The social media pundits (including here) are a tiny subgroup of the fan base.

How does anyone know who posts anonymous comments on the internet? If all it takes for someone to transfer is reading a critical post, you can bet that unscrupulous opponents would be gearing up insults right and left on rival boards.

Can you imagine the toughest and best players playing for Summitt or Auriemma considering transferring because an alleged "fan" said mean things about them on the internet?

I have to believe that Evina is tougher than that and that this is all just silly speculation.

I don’t see her leaving because of some anonymous poster talking negatively about her, but I could see her leaving because her coach blames everything on her and the other players.
