Sadly, I feel it is time to close the book on the Spurs' marvelous run. Watching them against the Knicks tonight, it is impossible to envision a scenario under which they make a run in the West. They're old, athletically challenged, and without the firepower necessary to play with the Lakers and/or Denver in a series. They have been the model of professionalism for more than a decade. It hasn't always been artistic, but it's always been sound, unselfish team basketball. The NBA will miss their classy presence at the top of the league.

Every team has to retool sooner or later. They did have a good run, punctuated by style and class.

The level of professionalism that they exuded the past decade is rarely seen in any sport.

I remember Ginobili just used to abuse people off the dribble. It's crazy to think that just a few years ago they were competing year in and year out for NBA titles.

As a Suns fan I will miss the playoff series the Spurs-Suns had I thought they were exciting even though Phoenix never came out on top!
