First, so have other staffs. Second, I agree this could be possible. Third, I agree with this too but tOSU was undefeated last year and are in much better shape than UT right now. So I really wonder how a #1 Rivals ranking will keep them from walking especially when we by a lot of folks are predicted to go 6-6 this year. Fourth, I don`t think the coaching staff and program turmoil had much to do with what happen. There was speculation for months that Dooley was gone after the season so he could have committed to aTm instead of UT.

I don't know about the rest of you but if I was a recruit that was committed to a school and the coaching staff told me I couldn't use my visits I would tell them to kick rocks and go anyway. This only happens once in these kids life and I would most certainly take advantage of it and see as much of the country I possibly could. If you ask me, if a coaching staff tells you not to visit any schools after you commit then that staff isn't confident that they will land that particular recruit. I personally hope this isn't the case with our staff, if these kids truly want to be Vols then it shouldn't matter what schools they visit.

If the staff has told them upfront that is the deal, I would have no issue with it. Guys like McDowell, Truitt, Bates, and others have chose to wait as they may take visits. Those who chose to commit now IMO have decided they are happy with their decision and don't need to see anything else. The staff is not forcing them to not take visits. It is their choice to commit now and not take them or take them and wait to make a decision.

With us picking up so much steam lately, I think that all of our 26 available slots will be filled by the end of September.

At that point, other recruits will still be interested in us and will be on the waiting list, so to speak. So, if one or two players decide to go to T.O.S.U., then one that is on the waiting list will just fill their slot.

Remember, sometimes it is not a bad thing for a recruit to NOT chose U.T. For instance, remember Marlon Brown, from Memphis? We just had to have him, but he ended up going to UGA. I never saw any performance from him that would make me regret him not playing at U.T. So, with Santos, Henderson etc. changing their committment at last moment is not that big of a deal.

If that is the case then that is understandable. I just don't think it would be right to tell a kid no your committed to us and you can't go on your final visit. But then again I'm pretty sure that is how we got Marlin Lane.

I don't see either flipping if they get the offers. Some kids just want the offers for pride.

Cant speak for Henderson but I was told 3 months ago by an old college friend when Wolf committed that OSU offer would mean nothing to him. Wolf grew up in Indiana and just recently moved back to Ohio a few years back. Was told he wanted to play in the SEC.
You can't blame these 17 year old kids if they make a commitment and then later a situation arises that make them rethink it. If Henderson loves OSU and they were not actively recruiting him and he decides UT is best for him and he pulls the trigger that is great. If a few months later OSU offers yikes that is tough on a kid. My girlfriend was offered by a nice CPA firm in Louisville and took all the orientation stuff etc then another firm offered here 2 weeks later and it was for more money and better benefits. She took the better pay and benefits. They were pissed but it was a business decision that effects her future. In some cases kids commit and get to know the staff and players more and more and later on fall out of favor with them. Kind of like dating...all roses in the beginning when us guys are being all wonderful to our ladies and then they see the other side of us..ha ha when we hook them.
All programs are out there trying to flip kids and getting them to rethink their commitments. It is a little unfair for any coach to tell a commit you do not have a scholarship here if you talk to anyone else when they are out doing that very thing.
Bottom line is UT is killing it on the recruiting trail and it is amazing what they have done. They may lose one or two like every school does but Wow they are just marvelous considering a losing season the past few years.

Do doubt. Meyer and Saban both just basically get whoever they want. I'll probably get flames for this but I truly believe that there are some shanagins going on. Not sure they're paying but something is there. I always said the same thing with Armstrong. When somebody wins on unprecedented levels there's usually something going on. There are lots of great, hardworking and likable coaches out there. But they'll always lose to Saban or Meyer.

It may be that their programs are the "Flavor of the month" and alot of the recruits want to go there. Just like Ole Piss was last year....when they unexpectedly got the committments that they were able to get.

Yes. So even if Santos were insulted by the late Texas offer, it wasn't enough to overcome his desire to play for the team he always wanted to play for. If Wolf and/or Henderson didn't grow up wanting to play for tOSU, then as was said, they would more than likely stay commited to the Vols.
