Ethan Burg has officially committed to this years addition of the basketball team, so we will have a full roster.
Watching his film, he is quick, has a good handle, is strong with the ball, and drives to the basket with authority, but under control. He looks like a starter to me, assuming he works hard on defense. I believe this is going to be a fun year so get ready…🍊🏀🏀🍊

Aren't they still waiting on the ncaa on this one? Hire the lawyer now?
Can’t remember which podcast it was but they said he has already been ruled eligible to play this year. UT is waiting to hear back from NCAA on how many years of eligibility he will have since he has played 2 years of ball.

It’s a little more palatable in this case due to his military conscription IMO
This. It’s almost equivalent to LDS members being required to take a 2-year mission trip, except service in the IDF is 2 years and 8 months, which is even longer.
Since he played professionally for 2 years but also lost over 2 1/2 years to military service, I think being granted about 2 years in college sounds about right.

Also, apparently his name is pronounced AY-tan rather than EE-thun.

Just watched a YouTube video on this kid. Seems to have a good handle and is strong with the ball. Great at breaking down defenders to get to the rim or midrange. Shot looks like it needs some work . . . sets his feet kind of wide. Always interesting to see how a foreign player’s game translates to the American game, especially a guard. I’ll interpret this addition as justification to ratchet up my optimism for this season.

Why are they even letting him in college at all. He’s too old.

Everyone’s path in life is different.
He can go to college all he wants, but if you play years of PRO BASKETBALL you should not be able to come back and play college basketball to collect some rev share money. What’s next, are we going to let washed up 35 year old G Leaguers hop back to college?

Do we think this guy will start over Gillespie, will it be a situation where they split time, or will he be more of a sturdy backup most teams don't have the luxury of?
