ESPNU HD
ESPNU HD logoESPNU HD is a 720p high definition simulcast of ESPNU that launched on August 28, 2008 to coincide with the start of the College Football season. [5] The service debuted with the football game between Vanderbilt and Miami University. The HD version of the channel is unavailable in most of the country. On August 25, 2008, Multichannel News reported that the HD version of the network was only available on 5 carriers (Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Blue Ridge Communications, Atlantic Broadband and Broadstripe) at the launch date [6], but it hopes to add reach deals with more distributors before the 20092010 college football season starts, because of the ESPN family of networks' long term contract extension agreements with the Southeastern Conference [7] and the Western Athletic Conference [8]. In late 2008, AT&T U-Verse added it as well. As part of its new carriage agreement, DirecTV has announced that it will add the HD version by the end of the first quarter of 2010. [2]
