ESPN - NCAA College Basketball Power Rankings - NCAA Basketball

After winning two games, we still dropped from 3rd to 5th this week. Some of the voters had us as low as 6 with teams like Lousiville and Texas ahead of us. I don't know what else we need to do to get some type of credit... I guess coming back from 16 points down in a hostile environment to win the SEC isn't good enough for them.

And I have read twice that we have clinched at least a SHARE of the SEC on ESPN. Didn't we clinch the SEC outright last night? MSU and UK are 2 games behind us with only one game left, thus giving us a outright SEC championship.

I think the top 5 teams are interchangeable. It's really tough to rank those 5 and feel confident about it.

apparently you were under a rock the week we played Memphis when ESPN drooled all over Tennessee basketball and we were no.1 the week after?

We are not playing our best basketball right now. We do not need to be ranked higher until we bring it for a full 40 min for a couple of games.

I think Reggie Rankin got this part wrong:

"...the Vols got a hard-fought win against Florida on Wednesday to clinch at least a share of the SEC regular-season title."

Umm - didn't we win it outright regardless of whether we beat SC? Tiebreaker vs MSU = we beat them = we win.

MSU has 4 SEC losses anyway.

Of course they did....we were the moneymaker of the week for them. ESPN will hype whatever is on their menu at the time. The so-called experts could quite possible do the same thing (with a little extra love for "their" team) to help their network hype games.

I could care less what they say because there is this little thing called a tournament at the end of the season.

I'm almost glad they ranked us that low... Maybe that will give us a little extra motivation (not that we really need any) in both tourneys.

The balance among the top tier teams is stunning therefore quality of play at any given game, coaching and stamina will be a factor...not to mention just plain old luck. This is also where the strength of schedule is a factor, like the Florida game last night, Tennessee does not get rattled, they have played in front of the big hostle crowds, played in front of the lights and cameras and played in important games all with a an absolutely great coach.

Then of course, the harder they work the luckier they will get.

apparently you missed the fact that it didn't last long, they are back to their normal not giving us much credit. If they were so high on us, we should still be ahead of memphis. And all of their drooling was for marketing reasons only.

so i'm supposed to cry because ESPN only has us in the top 5 and not the top 3?

c'mon people.......get it together please.

and i guess you also missed that we followed up our w over Memphis with a loss and Memphis has gone undefeated since?

seriously folks. there's a point that this stuff just seems like whining, and we passed that a while back.

there is no conESPNpriacy against UT.

Bottom line is we have a #1 seed with a win vs. SC and at least one win in SEC tourney. That's what we should care about.

i'd be inclined to believe that if this was the first time i'd ever heard of this so called conESPNariacy.
