I'm checking out Football Friday on ESPN News. They had an interview with starting LB Jerod Mayo. They were talking about a Peyton Manning sighting at USC (Southern Cal). Nobody expects us to beat Cal. Lamarcus Coker was picked as the breakout player of 2007. Projected outlook is 8-4. You know the Fulmer haters will not like that. I think it's funny that they have Coker as a breakout player when we don't even know if he will be the starter. And we probably will not know until gameday.

They said that we can't stop Desean Jackson. Like he's some Ted Ginn or something. Plus the crowd will take over, but I don't think Cal's stadium even has 80,000 capacity.

They also said we are going to have a tough start since we aren't going to be beating Cal, Fla, and Georgia.

this is great to hear. how can you not be motivated as a vol player going into this game?

desean jackson is a better player than ted ginn. there is no question. he had better receiving and return stats as a sophmore than ginn did as a junior. ted ginn was overated though. i don't think everyone thinks you are going to lose btw. and only an idiot would think that cal's crowd could take over.

That's going a bit far. Ted Ginn, regardless of how good anyone on here may say he is, was a top 10 draft pick. I always thought Ginn was a project for the NFL, but Cam Cameron knows a lot more about pro offenses than I do. Anyway, you can't say Jackson is better like it's a fact. It is definitely arguable.

I would take Ginn over Jackson.

Jackson is great, but he still has yet to accomplish what Ginn did, yes Jackson had 4 punt returns for TD's last year, but Ginn did that too in his Freshman year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cal's crowd was as loud as it has ever been considering how badly we beat them last year, but I don't think it will matter because Cal at full capacity at full volume is about half as loud as the swamp.

We better not lose all 3 of those games. The natives will not be very happy if that happens. MH's phone will be ringing.

All I know is that I have questions about our secondary...and if Jackson is any good at all he may find success with a half-way even a decent quarter back tossing him the ball. I think we have a good quaterback - but our receivers are a huge question mark .... if their offense begins clicking, our running game won't be enough to keep up. Everything will be different if O'Neil comes in firing on all cylinders.

Last season Ginn and the Buckeyes won some big games and Ginn managed to make an impact in the one big game he lost, although he was only in for one play. Jackson was irrelevant against UT. I'm not sure what his numbers were against USC, but they weren't enough to lead to a Bear victory.
