Also consider all the $$$'s that the various candidates got from their current schools in order to stay put.

What about Texas A&M having to pay Sumlin $10+ million in the next few days plus potentially a $40 million buyout with Fisher?

what a dumb tweet.

I guess that saying stuff without any information about it is what we do now.

no details of Currie's firing was disclosed. Typically when your employer has a cause for termination, you don't get a buy-out, you get a mutual indemnity agreement. MUCH CHEAPER. your employer agrees to not say anything negative about you and offers you like - the remainder of your year's salary or something similar and in exchange you agree to not say anything negative either, and you take the money instead of being fired outright.

BUT since no one, including Darren, knows the details, this is a completely useless tweet, and an post.

MoU wasn’t signed by all parties which makes it invalid

Reports are Currie was fired with cause which means no buyout or a significantly lower one.

So yeah this guys an idiot

Seriously? People need to figure out buyouts. Dear lord it's not 40 damn million, it's more like 6 million possibly less if FSU wants to negotiate.

One problem with article Currie may be fired for cause related to the Greg Schiano mess. Looking at the details it would appear they may have a good case for doing just that.

Possibly why he was left in power so long is they were looking for a way to get out of that buyout. Idk nor care. We need to get back on track in a hurry.

There are a number of legal issues that depend on looking at the Memorandum of Understanding with Schiano. Can't determine whether it's binding without a look at it.

As to whether Currie's firing was for cause, it may end up like Leach's -- an argument over what the facts are, and whether there is justifiable cause.

Bottom line is that we won't know on either for a while. Or we might not get all the facts from the legal process, if the parties settle, due to hazards of litigation and desire to keep the events secret.

cant hold them liable for graffiti thats all the rock is.

That's like saying you can't hold a business liable because of a slip and fall on an icy sidewalk and blaming it on the weather. This is America.

Schiano only has to show he was harmed by unproven comments and UT made inadequate efforts to protect that from happening.

Currie and Davenport both made statements vouching for Schiano. Going to be hard to argue that he had future employment loss due to something being written by a 20 year old on a Rock.

And his (their) statement was, that the guy was an outstanding candidate, fully-vetted by AD (but AD turned him down, after MOU was, supposedly, partly signed). Going to be interesting to see how legally-binding a (partly-signed) MOU is in these cases and how this works out (especially now with the AD gone). Maybe there was some amount of non-refundable earnest money that will be provided to the guy by TN, after all, which might make sense.

Currie doesn't work for UT and will not be a good defense witness. Doesn't matter who wrote it. Matters only who owns the rock and how it was managed and that Schiano was on the verge of a mind numbing amount of money that is no longer available to him. Civil cases required only 7 of 12 jurors to be convinced.

Again, the icy sidewalk reference. Put salt on it and they'll say you knew it was dangerous and didn't do enough. Don't put salt on it and they'll say you should've.

Currie told us it would be explosive and expensive. I just think this was what any of us had in mind
