Interesting he is going to be passing game coordinator vs oc in SEC. That makes you think a offer was never made by Tennessee. So im back to Mathews announcement that he has hired someone.
Reports came out this past week that we indeed did offer him, somewhere in the $1.4mm range.

This is all part of Pruitt’s Crimson Purge. He’s on a mission to completely destroy the UT football program. After not hiring an OC, he’ll fire every offensive coach except Friend and Wienke. Wienke is another mole. After 98, he wants revenge even more than Pruitt.

Pruitt is looking like a ****ing idiot.

Only people looking like idiots so far are the fans and the media trolls who make up things to feed them. So far, we really have no idea what Pruitt has been doing, except that he seems to have interviewed a number that you would expect to be targets. More than that, no one really knows. All these "confirmed reports" are suspiciously like rumors from agents trying to boost stock. I have not heard of anything actually that supposedly came from the UT Admin's office. Once we have REAL INFO, then we can see who the idiot is.

This reminds me of our Hc search. Nobody knows what offers have even been made. I just do not understand why an OC cannot be named if he has been hired. Can you?
I don't pretend to know what they are doing. The entire school admin is a disaster, has been for a while. I said earlier, UT is incompetent when it comes to hiring coaches and I'll believe that until they show me they arent. No benefit of the doubt from me. They got lucky with Barnes and it was a disaster leading up to him.

Unfortunately I agree with you. Maybe I am not familiar with the rules that apply to naming new coaches. But, is there some kind of rule preventing Pruitt from naming who the new OC is? If so, then the silence is warranted.

There mayve if its an nfl guy or still cosching a bowl and hasnt informed the team or something, I dont know. But if that were the case, why would be still be interviewing people?

It reminds me of mid season, several posters said there was something going on between Pruitt and Helton, and of course the "positive" folks laugh and said there wasnt. When it was clear as day there was a problem. If we are getting turned down by people to be QB coaches at other schools, theres a problem.

All I know is that all season Kiffin had Bama's offense rocking and in the championship game with Sark in charge it was totally unimpressive and mass confusion toward the end of the game when they needed a steady hand. I don't think he is the answer.[/QU

I'll just say this; I wish I could be more optimistic about Tennessee because it hurts my heart to see us where we are. But, there's no reason at all to feel like you're going to get competency from them. After so long, the benefit of the doubt wears out, and you're left with a pessimism that's backed up by reality.

In 2017, we all thought we were gonna get someone decent. Maybe not Gruden, but Dan Mullen or someone like that. We ended up with Jeremy Pruitt after throwing out Mike Leach's (and Greg Schiano's, in a more public display) acceptance for the job. Now I support Pruitt but the fact is we all thought we were getting someone experienced, but we ended up with a first time HC at any level.

There's no real reason to think the OC search has gone any differently. Perhaps they have someone competent like Sark or even Jim Chaney, but if we're getting turned down by guys who take position coach jobs at places we view ourselves as on the same level with historically, it tells you things probably aren't going to end much better. I've been solidly negative for the past couple weeks because most schools do not wait this long for a coordinator, and Tennessee has not shown that they do anything better with any extra time.
