Let me guess it because of the negavols on VN is the reason he offered a job worth 1.8m to a known hack in the bb world after 2 hrs...n its our fault that Dave hart is in charge of a major ad n should be held accountable for such poor judgment??

Oh wait all this is because we r tn n everything is harder n worse off than any other schools in america..

Its simple he is the man n paid big money to make the right decision..not well maybe next time.. He doesn't have that option.

And probably about to make the same 'Quick hire' mistake again.

It appears the revisionists are working overtime for Bama Dave today.

Delays the firing of Dools after the horrible loss to UK by going back to his buds and pulling Fred Flintstone from Saban in a sorry attempt to repair what cannot be repaired. Meanwhile Bama (along with the rest of the SEC including Vandy) continues to blow us out.

Conducted his own search for a football coach with the help of Booger, which included offering the job to Strong twice and Gundy before emissaries dropped Butch in his lap - at which time he makes a panic hire within 24 hours of meeting him. Blind squirrel and acorn come to mind.

Conducts his own search again and hires Zo from mighty Missouri State. Yes, even he leaves because Hart waffles in his support of him - which may be smart moves by both of them in a back handed sort of way. The roster is left in shambles. Conducts his own search again and makes a panic hire of an up and comer that is long on coaching skills and short on character and ethics - while knowing in advance that the later exists in the coach's recent history.

Cuts a deal with Nike. Great, we should want Nike. Only the deal attempts to destroy the image and brand built by a legendary HOF basketball coach, a legendary women's AD, legendary softball coaches, multiple other top coaches in other sports, thousands of female athletes, and hundreds of thousands of fans over decades that is known internationally.

Well done, Bama Dave, well done.

Legendary softball coaches?!! No.
Yeah...they win a lot.....but have never brought a national championship home. Should have 3 or 4, but choke in the big games.

My gripe with Dana O'Neil is that I've been an ESPN Insider subscriber for years, and my impression of her has always been that she scarcely follows SEC basketball and doesn't have much to contribute on the topic. But when Tennessee basketball went south, she was suddenly full of opinions. Her piece in particular on Cuonzo's departure was missing lots of key context, namely the actual performance of the team over his three seasons vs. its potential.

But calling her a b---- is low-class. It's easy enough to dismiss her on the merits. Why be sexist?

Because it's easy, and people like to flex their internet muscles. Same people who were immediately trying to help AJ Johnson file a lawsuit against his accuser.

From the title of this thread I expected that article to be really bad. I expected the writer to absolutely hammer Tyndall.

I believe for ALL future UT hirings, we need to ensure NO candidates ever have visited or have even driven thru Alabama. Safety first.

I have a question.
Has the curse of Bruce Pearl started on our basketball program?
First we fire Pearl for lying to NCAA; then Martin bolts out of town then Tyndall gets fired for NCAA violations and what amounts to interfering with an investigation. Just saying. Hope we are not gonna become the Cubs of the SEC in basketball.

What's the solution?

Did Hart fire Fulmer? Did he hire Kiffin? Dooley? Did he run Martin off?

WE ran Martin off with that asinine petition because we sometimes have the worst attitude as a fan base.

Martin ran off on his own accord. This sometimes happens when your athletic director refuses to give you a contract extension in the previous off-season.

That wasn't a petition sending the message. That was all Dave Hart.

You can fault Hart for the hiring, but you also have to give him credit for taking decisive action to fire Tyndall.

Athletic Director is a tough job. Even the best ADs don't always make the right hires. Hart's biggest sin was missing a well-hidden red-flag in Tyndall's background. It's a mistake, but it's a forgivable one. I'd take that over a guy who hires bad coaches and hands them exorbitant contracts (e.g. Mike Hamilton).

Inability to replicate Pearl's success ran Martin off. If you need to blame someone other than Martin blame the NCAA selection committee who popped Martin's bubble the first two seasons.

I'll stand and start the golf clap slow. Great post and right on the money. Just a couple of others of note:

-- Single-handedly scuppered the Gruden deal
-- Could have rehired Bruce Pearl without a buy-out explaining "it is the NCAA issues" on why he didn't. SMDH.

This all day in the light of how can you let this happen. I'm glad he owned up but this is a bad light on UT. His next hire is gonna make or break him.

The football hire will make him or break him. And he got extremely lucky with butch! As long as we keep improving and winning at football he'll get a pass for bball.
Now if he had any interest in winning over the fan base...theres a guy named Bruce pearl that would probably listen to him if he went to him

Loolimg back it was a rushed hire. Cuonzo left on April 15th and Donnie was hired on April 22nd. Recruiting is already lost at that point, so why did he rush?

Completely lost credibility when you started talkin about how ole "Bama Dave" conducted his own search to hire Zo. Come on man, get the facts before ya try to be a big boy n make a insulting post about our AD. Hammy hired Zo not "Bama Dave". SMH

Spot on. It's sad to think about Hart's many shortcomings. Did he just get lucky with the Butch Jones hire? We shall see. The fact that he said in his presser that his track record is good was laughable.
