ESPN with some love for Golesh

ESPN listed 30 potential head coach candidates: 10 head coaches who could move up and 20 assistants. Golesh was 19th:

19. Alex Golesh, Tennessee OC: An interesting wrinkle appeared in Golesh's Tennessee bio this offseason, revealing that he was the playcaller for Tennessee last season. He was also the playcaller at UCF the year before, and over that span those offenses led the nation at 3.06 plays per minute and 1.53 points per minute. If Tennessee's offensive fireworks continue, don't be surprised if a school targets Golesh, a Matt Campbell disciple, to bring his offensive acumen there.

Halzle already performs more duties than his job title imo. Golesh just exudes HC vibes…he’ll get his opp sooner rather than later.

It’s only good that you start a coaching tree as a HC. Makes the open job look much more appealing

Espn will be doing More Suck Up to the Vols & SEC, since they now have only the SEC Broadcasting Rights. No more Big 10 Suck up and Heistman fraud.

During his time at Iowa State Campbell has had one good season in 2020 when his team finished 9-3. The other years were either bad or mediocre.

I think Alex stays in Knoxville at least until we win an SEC title. He and the whole crew are on a mission.

And this isn't just orange-tinted glasses. It helps Alex to wait. Say we have a nice 10-2 run this season, 2nd in the East. He might get some head coaching offers then, but it would be to places like Bowling Green and Fresno State. Salary in the $500k to $800k range.

But he sticks with the program another year or two, wins an SEC title, and suddenly he's being offered the head coaching gig at places like Michigan State and Pitt. Starting salary running around $1.5m

Or he waits another year or two beyond that, stays with the team for a national title (we all wish!), and is being offered head coaching jobs at places like Texas and LSU. Starting salary upwards of $4m.

So it certainly doesn't hurt him to stick with Heupel & Co, as long as our trajectory remains upward.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Heup tells the play to Golesh who then “calls” it.
