ESPN Upstate on Venables

My idea scenario would be getting Venables and then get Tee as OC. Doubt he'd want to come, but who knows. Those two would constantly get us top 5 classes every year!

Curry spent all our money. I dont have words.

That's not even close to true.

Fulmer also has several BIG $$$$ boosters on his speed dial so $$$ is not a problem at all right now.

AD Hart fixed our money issues, just didn't spend the $$$ to hire us a great footVol coach.

VFL...GBO!!!

I’m hearing that Brent Venables is the guy at Arkansas assuming Tennessee doesn’t come into play.

This makes it sound like he's holding out for an offer from UT, maybe you will read it differently.

Chad Morris is the better overall coach between the two trust me.

Venerables has been successful in more places than Tee and has built dominant defenses everywhere he has been. Martin is working under Helton; honestly I'm not sure Tee has ever had full reign over the offensive play calling.

Exactly. Venables is more than ready with his experience at Oklahoma and Clemson, Tee is not.

Alright, so something has to be stopping people from going after Norvell. I wonder what it is cause he seems like a good fit for the Arky job imo. Seems like there's been no news about schools really pursuing him.

I have read that there is a gambling concern.

Steele and Pruitt are disasters. Pruitt is a great DC but I’m out if they hire him as HC. I know him going back to his days at Hoover and he is not fit to be the face of a high level program. Steele would be a disaster bc he’s a nervous wreck on gamedays. No way I want that guy as my leader

Pruitt would not be a disaster! He's a Top 5 recruiter in the country. And his defenses at every stop are legit. Get Tee as OC with him also being a great recruiter and we have something brewing.

My only problem with Pruitt is he is a Bama guy. Say he comes in here does really well for 4-5 years. Then it's time for Saban to retire. He would jump on that job like volnation on a Gruden rumor.

If he is doing well enough here for Bama to hire him after Saban retires than its pretty clear he was the right choice.

Also he would more than likely have to wait in line behind Dabo for the Alabama job.

Pruit could win here and be here for a long time. I actually prefer him over any other assistant coaches out there

Well he played at MTSU also. Who cares imo. The guy at every stop - UGA, FSU and Bama has dominated. Develops talent and gets them into position to succeed. IMO he's ready to lead a team and I think he would do very well. I'm also good with Venables. I think he needs to grow a sac and take that leap to HC.

I hope so and the reason I say that is because he did it at 2 places ( Clemson and Oklahoma ) so we know he's not just a flash in the pan.

Jeremy Pruitt has national championships at (Alabama and Florida State).

Pruitt a coach for:

2009 Alabama NC
2011 Alabama NC
2012 Alabama NC
2013 Florida State NC as defensive coordinator

National Championship coach 4 of 5 years from 2009 to 2013.

I agree I think he could be very successful here. That's my only concern. Him and Venables are 1a and 1b as far as coordinator hires. Both can recruit both can coach. I would want either of them over Chad Morris.

Rumblings that he’s really into gambling. Read it from posts on VQ...have never seen it tied to a writer in an article.

Pruitt as head coach and you have NCAA violations brewing.

I get that but Venables was the DC that took OU to 2 national title games, 3 BCS bowls. Took Clemson to 3 BCS bowls, 3 Playoff appearances, 2 national title appearances and 1 national title as DC.

Pruitt was a position coach 09-12 at Bama, Venables has a better resume

I didn't know he played at MTSU. I believe he would be a great coach. Venables as well. That is my only concern. I just hope who ever we do get will be here for a good while.

No discounting Venables at all, but would think hard not to go with Tee if we are going coordinator route.

No slight to tee but defense wins championships go back and look at every title ......ridiculous defense are what wins it with solid offense

He’d be on a huge list of candidates.

Keep hearing that. Never seen one investigation. Guy lands recruits at big programs and they act like it’s Ole Miss getting a top 5 class out of the blue.

Ron Higgins (the former sports writer from Memphis) said on the radio the other day that TN won't consider Norvell because he's at Memphis, and basically debunked the "off field issues" FWIW.

He did say TN hiring Les would be a disaster moreso than the Coordinators they are looking at. Gave Les a -2.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. He's been with the Times -Picayune since leaving Memphis
