We have not won a big game against a ranked for years (minus game cocks). We can win. But until we do we will not be the favorite by many.

Seems to be the common consensus from everyone I've listened to on Sirius this week. McElroy and Neuheisel did pick the Vols tho.
Phil Steele picked Sooners to win 34-31 on a last minute drive.

It's easy and understandable for the casual observer to pick OU.

However, we are night and day better than when we met last year, probably one of the most improved teams in the nation over the past 365 days.

OU might be better as well, but no way they've improved as much as we have.

Ironically our Achilles heel in last year looks to be OUs this year (o-line).

Heh, I keep opening this thread expecting to see a pic (picture), rather than a pick. Wonder how many times I'm gonna do it before I remember not to be fooled by the title. :)

I think both teams have a lot of athletes and it'll be a close game.
This game will come down to turnovers and getting touchdowns instead of field goals.
How will our young oline play in front of this crowd? I believe crowd noise will cause a few false starts and a couple wasted time outs. If our line holds up, we'll be able to have success passing the ball.
I think an X factor for my boys on offense will be Mark Andrews- a very athletic, big, Tight end- h back that they flex out and has great hands.
I think for the Vols on offense, I'm most worried about the qb run game and scrambling out of the pocket.
Last year the game was bigger for OU,as they were ranked very high and had high expectations. This year the game is a little bigger for the Vols, as you're trying to re emerge as a big boy and this is a statement win and sets the table for the rest of the season.
Both teams play 4 man fronts on defense and like to blitz alot, so who's able to get pressure and not get exposed in the secondary.

This should be a great game, I'm pumped! I hope there aren't any major injuries and the Vols do well after tonight. Here it is- OU 30-27 in a classic between 2 of CFB's big boys! BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

If ESPN is right, all the celebrating talk turns to...
"We don't have a good gameday coach"
"We had better talent so no more excuses"
"Forget about beating Florida"
We can only hope for a bowl game"
"If KMack played 50 snaps we would have won"

Would prefer us to win and see the forums predicting over the top 11 and 12 win seasons from here on out. I really hope we beat Oklahoma tonight.

We can win. Just need to get over the hump.

Neutralize the pass rush with quick slants; seriously worried about our LB group staying disciplined.

Phil Steele picked Oklahoma to win.

All these other sheep follow his opinion.

I dont blame Phil for his pick.

Until UT stops sh!tting the bed on national TV I wouldnt pick them either.

This is where Butch puts up or shuts up. Are you a good coach on the field or not?

After seeing our secondary and our non-existent pass rush last week they have to pick OU.

Hopefully that was us playing possum or those two things are fixed for today!

This is where I am too. The secondary really worries me... but I can also see that being a factor of Martinez being out, vanilla gameplanning, etc.

We can beat Oklahoma if we can clean up the secondary IMO

I can't blame any of them for not picking Tennessee given our recent history. However, a win today can go along way towards changing those perceptions. This is a good football team ready to make a statement.

Something that wasn't mentioned...we no longer have a statue at QB. Last year was a COMPLETELY different team, not just youth-wise...but at QB. This is a major game-changer.

They also didn't say much about our leading rusher last week. How r u gonna mention Obrien being out and say squat about Kamara?

If the pass coverage worked out some kinks this week, we are in a good spot.

a lot of people have them going to the playoff. Probably why they picked them. Personally I dont think they are better than baylor of TCU; then again, the season is still early

This^^^

Last weeks showing on D caused a lot of brake pumping. It's put up or shut up time. This is a beatable team. We aren't playing the 85 bears. No more excuses. It's time. Come on Vols. This is your time. These guys have a chance to become legendary. Not by this game alone, but by being the ones who brought TN back to relevance. The ones who believed and made the difference. I hope they are as ready as the fans are. Come on kick off.

Everyone who wasn't drinking the orange kool-aid picked OU. After watching the game I think a lot of Tennessee fans came back to earth. It would have been sweet to actually win one of these big prime time games. Watching how we ended losing this game tonight, really cut the hype meter down for the Vols. I'm just curious how long Butch is going to be able to keep the recruiting at a high level losing games like we did tonight.
