ESPN says Mallett

I certainly wouldn't claim to represent the consensus, but from my point of view, the kid was a very highly rated recruit coming out of highschool with a cannon for an arm; he did OK filling in at Michigan as a freshman, although nobody really knows what that means. I'm sure he would be welcomed with open arms on the Hill if he decides he wants to come, and would probably be a large part of the quarterback picture for 2010.

Tempering the enthusiasm to some degree are the facts that:
1. he isn't coming yet
2. he might not be that good
3. even if he is that good, we might have somebody better already

:good!:

I may be in the minority here but I don't want Mallett here he is big and slow he runs a 4.85 there are some DT's that run faster than that...I just don't want to see a repeat where we have 3-7 or 3-8 or need that big 4th down conversion and the blitz is coming he doesn't have the speed to get away especially in this conference

I still like the idea of a 2-way player at QB/DT, though.

That would one-up the Gators QB as FB deal.

As long as he is able to move in the pocket and deliver the ball, who cares?!?

I believe you are in the minority.

Yeah, because JaMarcus Russell sure did struggle. He's just a big slow animal, huh?

And God forbid we have a RB run to the first, turn around and catch a pass. But wait, didn't you want him at DE anyway?

How is he going to move in the pocket when it collapses and then has to out run a DE???

Look, he was athletic enough to be looked at as a TE in camps coming up through high school. At what 6' 7" 260 lbs, he can probably lower his shoulder on most anybody he wants to.

if that's the case then you can probably look to the previous downs' results as the culprit for that happening, not necessarily his, or any other qb for that matter, inability to scramble.

the same thing happens to Peyton when the right situation arrises for the opposing D.

At worst, one QB would get their feelings hurt and transfer.
it wouldn't be the 1st time for us...
?
