UPDATE: Looks as if Montori Hughes is not Tennessee's only loss at DT this month. A university spokesman confirmed to Andrew Gribble of the Knoxville News-Sentinel that rising senior DT Rae Sykes is not with the team "at this time" because of academic difficulties. The phrasing of the confirmation obviously leaves room for Sykes to return, but he may not have figured into the Vols' plans much anyway after playing in just eight games last fall. (Also, he was not on the two-deep coming out of spring practice.)

Believe this was laready out there.

I took "rising" to mean on the field abilities rather than grade classification. Worded poorly if sr at UT is all he meant, imo.

"Dooley" was the poster who put up the Sykes release.
"Rising senior" means he will be a senior in the fall. Not to be confused with "promising senior". That he was not.
