Right. I should say, we don't take a step back as long as we make it to the tournament and maybe win a game. But repeating last year's success without last year's seniors would really send a message that Tennessee is no longer a top 20 type program, but rather a top 10 one.
I hope this happens. I never thought I'd see the day that Tennessee basketball would be a perennial powerhouse. Its getting close to that level.
That idea seemed impossible when I was sitting in TBA with about 2000 others watching Tennessee win one of its 5 games during Wade's final year. 5-22. That still stings.
YEAH, YEAH!!! This is great news. I can't wait to start going to school, I am a transfer Senior, just getting out of the Air Force and will be starting the Sports Management degree this fall.
Man this will be an awesome basketball season to come in on!

I agree with your posts in this thread completely. I would add that Tobias Harris needs to be drafted high if we really want to be in the top 10. Top 10 programs get Top 10 players and put them in the NBA.Right. I should say, we don't take a step back as long as we make it to the tournament and maybe win a game. I know. It makes me sick to hear people fawn all over Calapari and how he develops players. People tend to forget how many players on his teams don't even get a sniff at the NBA. The ones that do go were headed there anyway. They were slated to go out of high school no matter what college they went to.:jpshakehead:Top 10 programs get Top 10 players and WIN championships with them. The players get themselves drafted, not the programs.
Case in point. Deandre Liggins. Five star point guard(Rivals).Going nowhere. If it weren't for the one and done rule, Calapari never sniffs Dereck Rose , Tyreke Evans,John Wall, or Eric BledsoeHard to say #92. Who'd say that Orton & Bledsoe were 1st round picks. But then again, were they picked there because of Cal's rep of "producing" Derrick Rose & Tyreke Evans? I can't stand the dude, but his reputation (however ill founded it may be, considering he's the cheat of the decade) might be getting these players drafted.
But saying all that, I would never trade Bruce for Cal or any other coach in the NCAA. Because at the end of the day, its fun watching Bruce coach. And I gotta believe its gotta be just as fun playing for him too.
Orton probably would have been drafted higher than the second to last pick of the first round had he been allowed to come straight out of high school. NBA teams draft on potential and measurables and Orton's got both in spades. You could make a strong argument that his stock would have been higher had he gone to another program where he would have played starters minutes instead of riding the pine behind Patterson and Cousins.Hard to say #92.
