ESPN reporting Tennessee is offering La. Tech's White

Who knows what is real any more. But if Hart botches this cause we are too cheap to pay for good assistants, he needs to go.

Louisiana Tech journalist reporting that White has turned down the Tennessee job. Not sure how much to invest in this, but i'd say time to move on to Tyndall

"Usually refrain from "unnamed sources" but I was just told Mike White has spurned Tennessee and will remain at Louisiana Tech."

That's not a LT journalist, that's a fan

White is Mr. Hart's and Mr. Cheek's guy. Both feel White would be a great asset to the university, donors, and fans. Hart is trying to lock White into a long term contract. The terms I am hearing are 1.5 Million plus incentatives over 6 years with a 3 Million buyout. I am not hearing the buyout being an issue but the salary of White's staff is. I am sure the terms will change, but I would not expect by much. I would say the chances of this deal getting done is 90%.

I am certain Mr. Hart is aware if he (Hart) does not get White, his other candidate will have leverage to squeeze extra money out of him (Hart) so I believe Hart will go ahead and spend the extra money on White and get his Number#1 coach. I would say 3:00 p.m. tomorrow is the deadline for this deal.

If you are accurate, and let's face it, VN is full of "insiders", then Hart would have to be an utter moron to screw this up. Six years seems excessive though on a coach unproven in a major conference.

20 post since Nov 2013? interesting what was your knowledge of CCM situation?

I would point out that only about 30,000 signed the petition. How many Vol fans do you think are nationwide?

Also consider that a large majority of those signing the petition was more about wanting Pearl back at Tennessee than bashing Martin. I could be wrong about this, but I doubt it.

Don't forget that it was long before we even sniffed the sweet 16 and that the petition had died out before the SEC tourney.

But that gets in the way of a good "gotcha" moment for people who actually seem to dislike UT but claim to be Vols.

That sounds more like a wish than a report. Like I said in the White thread, my source is very confident that White is a done deal to UT.

He followed it up with this:

Bret H. McCormick ‏@b_hoss_mac 4m
@RoyLangIII @withrowzone From what I hear he considered it, was a tough decision but they couldn't come to an agreement on terms.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if his "source" is LWSVol on VQ.

We'll see how "connected" his sources are. Found his other tweet interesting. He said UT's offer of 1.3 million would double White's salary but with another good year at LaTech, he could demand double the 1.3. Almost 3 million a year after 4 years as a HC at LaTech? That I am not buying.

They can't afford that. No way.

I don't think he meant he would demand it of LaTech, more than he would be worth close to 3 million a year on the open market. I don't see that at all. He could have a good year and win 25-26 games this year and his team still not have ever made an NCAA tourney.

Regardless, we replaced a HOF coach with Lane Kiffin! LMAO!

Sigh. Remind me again what our record was in Fulmer's last year? Now remind me who was the last coach to take UT to a bowl game?

FTR, I hate that you made me go that route. I totally respect Fulmer, but as I said, eventually the game passes even the great ones by.

There might, might be 20-25 programs in the country who would pay that for a BB coach. Most of those programs have established coaches who either aren't leaving any time soon or likely have a hand picked successor lined up already.

The only one I see with the possibility of a job opening next year would be Arkansas.

Sigh... Remind me what his overall record was and compare it to what we've done since.

Technically Dooley went to the Music City bowl since Kiffin took us to the Chik-Fil-A bowl.

A lot of misinformation always arises from our coaching searches and I think the person responsible for it is Jimmy Sexton (the agent)...I definitely think he is a source for at least some of what the national media runs with. I am over it friends.

And when did the national media pick up the story and use it to paint the entire Vol fanbase as complete lunatics? That's right, when we made our tourney run, because it made for a good story they could sensationalize.

Your people who claim to be "Vols" statement totally ignores that some of us can actually open our eyes and see the negative light we were painted in. Maybe the petition started out as a harmless thing, but if you can't see how it was used against us you're blind. Argue it was taken out of context if you want, but it doesn't really matter. The media turned it into something extremely negative. Honestly, how anyone can argue that point is beyond me.

If we miss out on white then that sucks. If White wants a very small buyout than I say walk away. We aren't Kentucky and can be a stepping stone for many...it sucks but its reality.

You really are hopeless. If you couldn't see Fulmer was in decline, then I'll let you continue to live your pipe dreams.

You think Mike Anderson will be fired from Arkansas?

What I think doesn't matter cowboy. The perception of coaching candidates does.
