Nice new set up Freak. I think ESPN realized that no opinions on here are filtered, good or bad, and see the potential VolNation has. It's pretty obvious to me that loyal Vol fans stick around all year and the site will grow even more whenever the actual football season starts. I'm glad I've been around a fair amount of time to see and be part of the colossal growth. Thanks and well deserved and well done.

Congrats to Freak and all others involved in making this happen. But will we still be able to whine that ESPN hates the Big Orange?

ESPN Press Release

Guys, here is a copy of the Press Release that was sent out. There are lots of exciting things on the horizon for us and I want to give you guys a glimpse of what to expect. Nothing much is going to change immediately. It's going to be a process.

Here is a brief summary of what to expect:

As of right now, we are able to syndicate espn content and use their exclusive video player on VolNation. You will see some of that implemented immediately.

We will also have access and promote the espn recruiting databases of players but the details of how that is going to work still need to be ironed out.

If things go as planned, we will be bringing on a credentialed staff writer in the near future that will be submitting content for VolNation that will be featured on ESPN.

VolNation will have access to several prominent high school football camps that are sponsored by ESPN. More on that later.

Most importantly, we have no immediate plans to change to a subscription model.

Also, thank you to everyone who visits and posts here. It's been our great mods and members that truly make this place special. It's you guys that make this place what it is. Our shared passion is the main reason I've enjoyed this place so much the past five years.

freak sold out to the "man" :)

Not to be the only naysayer here, but I will be. The ESPN recruiting database is pretty poor. It has been improving over the last couple of years but it is still way behind rivals. That's my only complaint for now. Great for you though Freak.

That's a very good observation and I agree with you. However, they are really increasing the focus on recruiting. That's one of the reasons for these affiliations.

You can also look at this this way: ESPN's is the best national recruiting database out there that doesn't have an affiliation already. :) And, at least we will now have some exclusive content in the recruiting game. Something is always better than nothing, right?

To all the folks talking about ESPN being the "enemy"... I have always heard that the best way to deal with an enemy is to make a friend out of 'em. Looks like that's what Freak has done and I'm really excited for him and the future of VN!!

speaking of espn college football live is leading off with a discussion of kiffin's minor violations and making it sound like his job is in jeopardy...great journalistic integrity there

Interesting change. Although not surprising. This quality of the site is head and shoulders above other fan sites. Just a matter of time before a big boy came knocking on Freak's virtual door.

Hope though this place keeps many of the attributes that has made it a joy to visit over the last three years I've been a member.

But an overall congratulations Freak on the great job.
