Detailed Study Reveals The Biggest Fan Bases In College Football

this is a bit better perspective on why ESPN is missing the proverbial mark… VOLS are in top tier of fanbases (#16, Top 16 teams account for 50% of all college football fans)
Not sure what metrics they used here...maybe population base and size of school for graduates ...certainly TV viewership I'd guess, but in regards to ROI, I'd say we're top 10 for sure if not better. Would be interesting to see merchandise sales as a % of total. Gameday attendance. Viewership of games as % of total and online fan board participation. No way we're just 16. Don't really care though...UT brand has always been there, and as saw last year, on the rise again, and when consistently winning, will be top 5

It’s changed so much. I remember 20-25 years ago at how much fun it was to watch. They had great interviews, amazing highlights, they were funny and lighthearted. It’s night and day to what it is now.
Stu Scott, Patrick, and Olberman could make baseball highlights hilarious. RIP Stu, and I think aliens have captured and possessed Olberman. Not sure what DP is up to.

I tried to open the link and it's behind a pay site, and I ain't joining. On the other post about this, the metrics used for the results was questioned. Tennessee has one of the top fan bases, I'm sure it is well inside the top 10 and most likely inside the top five. GO VOLS!!!!

Gotta remember there are lots of schools with larger enrollments. Fl and tosu are above 50K if I’m not mistaken. States are also much more populated than Tennnessee.

ESPN just doesn’t move my emotions meter at all. The only time they’ll be on my TV is watching the Vols. I’ve learned to know and understand most entities around me in day to day life and avoid the ones like ESPN as much as possible.
Do you boycott companies as well for not aligning with your views? You are taking this too serious and removing the enjoyment of just watching some football on Saturday. Relax. If a good game is on and you want to watch, just watch it. I get if the broadcasters drive you nuts but a network as a whole? It’ll be ok if they exclude us from their video. Just enjoy watching the game. Go Vols!

Thanks for the advice. I DO watch when the Vols or on. Actually, I’m very relaxed. And not worried if they include us or not in any video. Either way I probably won’t be watching.😂😂

Tennessee is ONLY relevant in HERE... maybe this year it starts to change...7 wins won't do it.

ALSO...it was just 6 short years ago that Tennessee appeared 5 times as the game on College GameDay...in 1 Season...6 years and 2 coaches and 1 NCAA Investigation ago...

When I see Deon & Jackson State on a football commercial, I understand it if for entertainment only, lol.

Hate to say this, but the only thing that has kept the big Orange relevant in the last 10+ years has been the antics of our fanbase. Good or bad.

We are looked at like a Nebraska or Kentucky. Many would say they don’t expect the Vols to win a Natty ever again. We don’t have the recruits that Bama, UGA, Fla, LSU, Texas have.

NIL and a good coaching staff could help us some, but only time will tell.

I only watch live games (haven’t watched one since CWS) on ESPN. That other $hit is a waste of my time.
