Probably need to contain the enthusiasm. Last year we beat up on a Cincy team that ended up the season pretty good while we finished 5-7. I too believe the Vols looked impressive but will contain my excitement until a couple more games.

Need to beat Florida and then I will join in on the we are on our way bandwagon. Winnable game against a rival and a top 25 team. A step up from NC State IMO.

The thing that bugs me the most about the media coverage of the Vols (ESPN, CBS, what-have-you) is that we are almost always cast as the antagonist of the ballgame.

The color commentators and play-by-play guys alike present every stinking game from the opponents view point: what they have to do to beat the Vols pre game, areas where the Vols are weak, apologies for bad plays from the opponent (instead of praise for a great play by the Vols), and non stop talk of a come back strategies when we're up big.

They're the good guys and the Vols are the bad guys.

Some might call this selective listening, and sure, there are some times when these yahoos manage to slip a kind word here and there - mainly because they HAVE to. But it's mostly individual praise - not praise for the whole Evil Empire that is the University of Tennessee.

This crap has been going on for years. I remember growing up watching games with my old man. He would mute every single game and find John Ward on the radio.

Now that was a great way to watch a Vols game!!!

ESPN does the popular thing. For the past 5 years it has been to beat up on UT. Rightfully deserved for the most part. If we keep winning they will be on the band wagon.
Yes sir..... Espn is about whoever is the flavor of the month. In the last five years the Vols haven't even been on the menu. So basically they hate us. Got to go with the flow.

A step up Defensively, but about three steps back on the offensive side of the ball from NC State.

They are a good team. It's a great win. Wouldn't be a great win if we won by a last second field goal, but we controlled the game from the get go. No reason to down play this win. We are the first team to exploit their so called great secondary, and we made their so called first round QB look pedestrian. Plus the most rushing yards any of their backs got was 53 yards. We owned them.

Preach it,EG!!:clapping:

There wasn't much doubt who was the better team Friday night. That team went on a tear and absolutely killed the Clemson team that won the ACC last year. NC State is a decent team. They probably fall somewhere in that 7-9 win range. It will be interesting to watch them play some other teams. I think they may be better than we realize.

I hope like heck they're right. Only thing I'd hate about that is that we'd win the East and probably have to lose to Bama twice in the same season. But if we win the East, I'll worry about that when the time comes.

After the first week of the SEC openers, their top three teams are LSU, BAMA, and THE BIG ORANGE. They gave analysis as to their reasoning being, they all looked solid and took care of business accordingly. Uga and Florida got dogged out for not doing what they were supposed to do against inferior opponents while being ranked. I agree 100 percent. I think this is going to be a great season. GO BIG ORANGE.

dogged for winning? :ermm:
