ESPN jumps the shark

I'd say you would get a pretty close race. So in essence, neither are having people bang their doors down to be seen.
Compare them in ESPN's target demographics. ESPN advertisers are much more concerned with what 22 year old guys in frat houses are watching than the viewing habits of 55 year old lesbians switching over from Lifetime to watch hoops occasionally.

I don't mean this in a bad way, but do have any idea the difference in ad value between, say a .5 difference in the Arbitrons? It would pay to fly the entire ESPN staff, equipment and all, to Afghanistan, with a big pile of cash left over.

I don't know it. But that is not even what I am arguing. I am just saying if hockey or anything similar gets a similar rating to poker. Then you go with poker. You can put a new episode of this on every night for 365 nights in a row and it basically costs nothing.

The difference is that 25 to 54 year old men with disposable income watch Poker.
Amen. The fact Agnes and Mabel, "life partners" living in Storrs, Connecticut, are watching UCONN in the title game really doesn't matter to Budweiser, Miller Lite, Ford's Truck Division, or any of ESPN's other major advertisers.

I don't know if there are any other poker players in the building, but what they show on Espn, is some of the worst poker playing on the planet.

They definitely tend to show a lot of improbable comebacks on the river card.

They're also gonna start televising the National Paper, Rock, Scissors Tourney.

Honestly, how in shape do you have to be to compete?

And, that game is not about talent, its whether you get lucky or not.

that would be one heck of a career... i mean u can start out around the age of 5 and play until ur about 75... a 70 year career.. hmmm

I'm thinking about forgoing my final years of high school and college and enter the profesional national paper, rock, scissors tourney. I feel that I have the skills to compete with the pros. With this sport I don't have to worry about injuries or the physical beating that most sports take.

It's pretty stupid to make it a sport.

I mean, what kind of strategy do you bring to the table?

well its usually tempting to select scissors on the first go and if ur opponent chooses scissors and u pick rock then the next go he will probably choose scissors again thinking that u will pick rock because most ppl who play the game think for some reason that if they lose with one pick then its not likely for them to lose with it twice in a row so they pick it again, and that would b the same for any picks lol, im totally into this stuff :)

I watch it all the time, both on the ESPNs, and the Travel channel or FSN.

The question is, does anybody actually watch those shows on FSN where Howard Lederer tells everybody how to play?

Not even I will go that far. FSN shows some pretty decent tournaments though.

Ok, so what I'm gettin', don't go away from what has been working to what you aren't so sure will work but hope you hit it big with the new thing. The shark is feeding ya but you are trying to jump to a blue whale. Close?
