On the front page of ESPN.COM, they say the VOLS are the best value bet in the nation to win their conference. The hype continues...

Hopefully Butch will stop with all the "we're so young and inexperienced" sound bites and start confidently embracing the expectations.

Seems to be embracing it. Last week he said on PF that the hype hadn't entered the complex and guys were working hard and were hungry. I took it that Butch welcomes the attention and expects to back it up. It was one of the first times he seemed ready to back away from the youth argument - somewhat. Of course, there's always an escape clause - if we lose a couple guys to injury, the season could turn on a dime...

I haven't heard that much this offseason. Most of his rhetoric seems to be more of the "we are embracing the expectations"-type sound bites.

When it comes to winning the east, better to listen to the coaches than the media

I'm just glad he didn't say "You won't have Tennessee to kick around anymore."

Apparently, you have no idea what conversations Butch has conducted with the staff and team about his expectations. If you think he is not a near perfect psychologist on how to handle his team, you have a lot to learn. I think he has the confidence base cover very well. lets let him do the talking and we, s fans, count the won/lost stats rather guess about his coaching.

What would be the point of joining a forum dedicated to the Tennessee Volunteers?

Honestly, Butch has had a different tone this off season. He seems very confident in the team now.

I believe I heard Jones say, "Our individuals are gone whoop their individuals' a$$es!"

Or something like that. It's on!

I didn't hear nearly as many this year but the couple of times he did say it, can you really blame him? Butch is always recruiting and he knows (and we know) that one of the biggest selling points to elite recruits is early playing time. I don't blame him for still dropping that line in there occasionally.

I assume by "best value" they mean upset pick. Too many people assume the west champ will beat GA, but we have a good chance of pulling it off (compared to the low odds we're getting).

One thing I have noticed about CBJ.. And he may have always been like this. But, when he was at the podium talking during the SEC media days... He lights up when asked about his players.. It is very obvious he loves his team.. That really has stood out to me.. I like that!

I hope the fan base will not be let down with a 8 and 4 or 9 and 3 record and second in the East, now saying that we do have a chance at the East and if that happens, who knows we might shock the world in Atlanta.
