I see all this negativity on ESPN, and heard it talked about numerous times on this board. My question is " Why does ESPN hate the University of Tennessee?" Has the University done something to ESPN that I don't know about? Just a question on my mind this morning, that maybe someone can shed some light on.

I'm not really sure. My question is, if they hate us (not saying they do or don't), why would they affiliate with our site?

ESPN does not hate us. Listen to other fans talk and they will say the same thing about espn (or any other media outlet). Do they like to put a negative spin on things? Absolutely. But that is what sells. BTW- has anyone else seen all of the comments on Chris Low's blog about how he only writes about UT? Pretty funny to see everyone complain about that.

They don't. You've listened to too many people on this board. I won't deny a love affair with ACC/Big East Basketball but they are the best conferences after all. And I won't deny the same with SE football.

Without ESPN the guy in your avatar is still coaching in the NFL. They go where the story is and we happen to be the flavor of the month(s).

ESPN is one of the great inventions of all time right up there with the wheel and the internet.

I'm not really sure why ESPN hates us, but I know why we hate THEM. I'm sure everyone remembers Peyton Manning's stolen Heisman?

I am not dissin ESPN, I was just curious as to why everyone says " ESPN hates us" when I can't find anything that supports that statement.

ESPN/ABC have a long hate for UT, which cost Peyton Manning the Heisman Trophy, due to their bias toward the Big 10.

Well here is a little brush up on history. Peyton manning got the shaft in the heisman voting. All supposedly a espn conspiracy to award the trophy to a defensive player. I can't speak for espn, but keith jackson basically ran charles woodson's heisman campaign that year. He got a plug in for woodson every chance he could.
Then there was the whole trailer park frenzy thing with chris fowler. Fowler made those remarks after supposedly being hit by water bottles or something while on a gameday set in knoxville. That part is kind of fuzzy for me. He did make the comments and no one has forgotten about them in big orange country.

Fact is espn is the biggest bunch of bandwagonners around. Let kiffin start beating the who's who in our conference and they'll be on them like stink on you know what.

I totally agree with cartervol that there are reasons to hate ESPN:
1. Campaign against Peyton in the heisman race.
2. Chris Fowler's trailer trash comment.
3. ESPN has a man crush on CUM and CMR and I think as far as they are concerned those are the only credible coaches in the SEC.
I really hope that when the VOLs start winning championships again CLK and his staff turn down interviews with ESPN and grant interviews to other networks. That is the only thing that will bring ESPN off it's high-horse. I hate em and I don't care who knows it.

Bill, take your head out of the sand and see ESPN for what they really are- a corporation whose mission statement includes bringing down the Vols. You're usually smarter than this

How did you leave Linda Besil-Bayer-Aspirin off the list?

Just because they dont put or sub par teams on tv every other night/weekend dies not mot mean the world hates us. and also i didnt know only espn voted in the heisman. must be something new that NO ONE buy UT fans know about. get over it.

You're right. It just dawned on me why the football team has had so many Saturday night games and the basketball team was pretty much the Tuesday night game of the week for two months on ESPN this year. It's because they wanted to put us down. Throw us in the dirt and call us Nancy.

It's the same reason Bruce Pearl gets to be on TV every chance he can. It's the reason Kiffin was voted biggest coaching move. ESPN hates us. They hates us.
