Do people not think when they start threads on here? Why must this site repeat itself so much

Do people not think before they open threads on here? Read the title. You can usually decide whether you're going to like it or not. Instead of *****ing every time somebody posts something you don't like, don't freaking open it. Pretty simple concept.

Heres my view of ESPN

im from Jackson TN and i have seen Drae Bowles play...
nothing taken away from drae he will work harder than anyone in this class
but they had him our #1 recruit.... knowing the talent that is in west tennessee there is NOOOO way. that makes ESPN look retarded.... Mcneil should be our #1 over drae atleast

but again nothing against drae

Rivals has us at 18 and that's with the Patterson surprise. That's the most generous of the rankings I've seen. I don't see Bynum pushing us up to 5th or 6th if we get him.

Rivals SEC rankings.
1-Bama
3-UF
11-Auburn
13-A&M
16-LSU
17-Tennessee
18-South Carolina
19-UGA

Looks like Auburn moved up some more since my original post but it will still be correct.

We are only about 30 points behind LSU. If they don't land any more players (which I think they are done) then we will jump them when we land Bynum. (he will be worth about 90 points).

That will then put us 5th in the SEC:salute:

Also we are tied for 4th best average star ranking per signee. But that doesn't matter since we are all trying to be as negative as possible.:birgits_giggle:

Tennessee Volunteers - B-

Top prospect: Receiver Drae Bowles (Jackson, Tenn./Christian School) is a very good receiver prospect who is physically ready to make the jump and help the Vols. He reminds us of Dez Bryant.

Breakdown: The coaching turnover appears to have hurt the Vols down the stretch but they still hung on to sign a top-25 class. It's not the flashiest of classes, but it is solid with six four-star prospects, including three from the ESPNU 150. Juco receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (Rock Hill, S.C./Hutchinson CC) is a guy to keep your eye on. He's a game-changer. The Vols also landed a pair of ESPNU 150 receivers in Bowles and Alton Howard (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater). Bowles is thickly built, explosive, fast, and sudden in his stop and start ability as a route-runner and open-field ball carrier. Howard is a human spark plug who is a tough guy and plays big and physical. Four-star tight end Justin Meredith (Anderson, S.C./T.L. Hanna) gives the offense another receiving weapon. Four-star safety LaDarrell McNeil (Dallas/Wilmer Hutchins) is a big and physical strong safety who could grow into a hybrid or even outside linebacker in time. He should be a force on special teams as well. Four-star defensive end LaTroy Lewis (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) has good size and upside, and speaking of size, the Vols added 6-6, 375-pound defensive tackle Daniel McCullers (Raleigh, N.C./Georgia Military Academy).

here is the write up.. do you want all of the grades?

They don't include JUCO's, and three of our best recruits are JUCO's. I'd say ESPN is accurate based upon what they do rate, but their rating system as a whole is fundamentally flawed by failing to include JUCO's.

they do a very good job imo of rating based on a team's need.. that is not something other sites count and it is part of espn's rankings. also they have hired a lot of quality guys and are growing their recruiting site listing.

Folks, I know this probably hasn't been said yet...but ESPN really does hate us.

I expected better to be honest...don't really know why but I did.

I think rivals is the most reputable service but who knows. Every year all the "experts" say over and over that the difference between the top 10 classes is very minimal. However, they play up the rankings to get ratings and drive people to their sites.

Therefore it may be better to look at how we did against our conference: Alabama and Florida got better than anyone else in the SEC today, hands down. At least on paper. Grade A

We are in the second tier with (Auburn, LSU(Surprising), Texas A&M, South Carolina and Georgia). On paper these classes look very similar according to rivals. They all have a similar number of 3 and 4 star recruits if that's worth anything? All of these get a Grade B. Any further examination is just guessing and speculation.

The only complaint I have is that we didn't get an OL. I don't think any team should ever go a year without signing at least one.

Hopefully the JUCOs can come in and help immediately. Hopefully the freshmen can develop and contribute significantly in 2013 and 2014. If we have to rely on too many freshmen this year then we are looking at a repeat of the last 2 seasons anyway!

ESPN = Extremely Stupid People Network.

Plus they've always hated Tennessee.

I completely ignore everything ESPN except when they have a game on I just have to see.

Rankings means nothing to me and as Coach Majors always said...We'll see how this class really is in 4 years.

It's how well the kids progress and play during their careers that's really the ONLY thing that matters.

VFL...GBO!!!

That's funny because Nick saTan never thought CDD was a underachiever and he tried hard to get CDD to stay with him and go to alaBubba.

CDD was the recruiting coordinator at LSU and helped Nick saTan bring in the kids they won a National Championship with so I guess he underachieved there too.

LOL!!!

dude my beef is to say Espn has something against Tennessee is stupidity that all. Getting the #1 juco player is not going to torpedo us into the top 10

McCullers, Sentimore and Patterson would move those rankings if they were included. That is what people are saying. ESPN doesn't count them when ranking classes and we actually had a good haul from Juco. It will not torpedo us into the top ten but one or two players matters at the end as far as rankings go. Our class is very good at the skill positions and defensive line which is where we needed the most help.
