This was behind ESPN's paywall, but the summary was that ESPN had graded Josh Heupel as a Grade C hire when he was hired but graded his first year as A-. They stressed how he was able to rejuvenate the offense despite coming in late in January and how he has energized the fan base. Nothing factual we didn't already know but a nice piece on his efforts. They also graded the new coaches at Arizona (D+), Auburn (C), Illinois (A-) Kansas (B+), South Carolina (A-) Texas (D) and Vandy (D+).

Was this the same article that gave Butch Jones a D- for his 2-10 coaching performance this season at Arkansas State?

Heupel getting the same grade as Beamer is ridiculous. One coach had a historic exodus of top players with an sec investigation hanging over the program on top of a much more difficult conference schedule and still managed to be up 28 points on the other in the first quarter along with ending the season with a better record.

Yeah, which is it? I really don’t know.
🤷🏻‍♂️

Personally, I think he’s good but people are slow to give him credit because he’s not flashy. Similar to Mike Stoops. Should not have gotten a better grade than Heupel though because they both inherited a mess and Heupel WTFA

D+ for Vandy what a joke

To be fair, they started off the season absolutely atrocious, got drilled by an FCS team. This was coming off a winless season, it was all bad.

While their record was really really bad at 2-10, they did start playing much better football towards the back half of the season. Clearly their coach improved the team.

Well, if you thought ESPN giving us some love would lead to me giving up money to read it? Think again.
