With all the publicity that CLK has brought to UT this year, what do you think our chances for having espn college gameday in Knoxville next year? We have 3 huge home games against Oregon, Florida, and Alabama

If we continue our winning as well as Oregon, I can see that possibly being a Gameday game.

I think they'll be here. Especially with another offseason of Kiffin's soundclips to put on repeat.

Florida and Bama would be possible games for Gameday to visit Knoxville. However, those 2 games will probably be CBS games, which is now rare for Gameday to promote. Gameday was at LSU/Florida game this year that was televised by CBS, though. But they like to advertise their ABC/ESPN games. Best bet may be if UT hosts a big game on ESPN during the 2010 season.

if we win out, and do well in our bowl game and oregon plays a big bowl we will have them for the oregon game, its going to be hard for the Bama, FL game since those will more than likely be picked up by CBS

I could see Oregon game for two reasons

1) early season game with no real matchups yet

2) ABC game probably and want to hype that.

I have never understood why some people place so much importance on Gameday. I would prefer that the douche Chris Fowler never sets foot in Tennessee.

Oregon at home would be ESPN or CBS too.

Home team has rights, and the SEC has no contract to play on ABC.

And don't underestimate the value of an entire days focus on national TV in a game involving Tennessee on recruiting, let alone that we have to generally have become a power to get it.

Other games the same day involving current top teams...

South Florida @ Florida (CBS/ESPN) - Best guess = ESPN @ Noon
Iowa State @ Iowa (ABC/ESPN) - Best Guess = ESPN 2 @ Noon
Virginia @ Southern California (ABC/FoxSports) - Best Guess = ESPN2 @ 3:30
Miami(Fl) @ Ohio State (ABC) - Best Guess = ABC @ Noon
Penn State @ Alabama (CBS/ESPN) - Best Guess = ESPN @ 3:30
Wyoming @ Texas (ABC/ESPN) - Best Guess = ESPNU @ Noon
Michigan @ Notre Dame (NBC) - Best Guess = NBC @ Who Cares(3:30)
Miami(Oh) @ Cincinnati (ABC/ESPN/BigEast Network) - Best Guess = BigEast Network @ Who Cares(7:00)
Toledo @ Boise State (ESPN) - Best Guess = ESPNU @ 10:00
TCU @ SMU (ESPN/CBS College Sports) - Best Guess = CBS College @ Who Cares(3:00)
LSU @ Vanderbilt (ESPN Regional) - Best Guess = ESPN Regional @ 12:30
Georgia Tech @ Kansas (ABC/ESPN) - Best Guess = ABC @ 3:30
Pittsburgh @ Utah (Versus) - Best Guess = Versus @ 4:00

Tennessee vs. Oregon gets the night slot on ESPN... and a decent chance at Gameday along with Penn State @ Bama, and Miami @ Ohio State.
Lot of good games that weekend... but bear in mind CBS doesn't usually start broadcasting college football until week 3 or so due to the US Open.

Reasonable chance Boise, Cinci, or Utah is moved to Thursday.

Off that list, I would have to say Penn State/Bama and Miami/Ohio State are the overwhelming favorites to get Gameday.

It hasn't happened yet, but a year or two ago it was announced that a club room of sorts was going to be added to the Arena above where Gameday has set up in the past. Not anywhere near my donation level, so I don't know what's going on with that, but if, for some reason, the TB site is not available, where would you put the Gameday crew? The "pedestrian mall" at gate 21 is supposed to be done for next year, but that would lose the river setting. Maybe Circle Park?

If we beat Oregon then definitely the Florida game. Corso will put on the coonskin hat as well.
