Glad you enjoyed it. What is telling is that so many fans take pleasure in seeing our coach get ripped by the talking heads, but whatever makes you happy.

No "enjoyment" from me, 'cept for watching/reading you Goober-Smoochers that continue to provide unlimited excuses for this estrogen-filled coaching staff the Tennessee currently fields...

Truth hurts Butchites...

Musberger is probably just regurgitating what he heard elsewhere. He barely knows what the hell is going on in the games he actually calls, I doubt he has the slightest idea what Butch did or didn't screw up in a game he didn't call.
They can't have the same opinion from just watching the games we've blown...including the very same crap in the UF game last year? Good grief. You need to go buy a clue. We have had more talent than UF both seasons, and yet we've choked away the game twice, now.

Not sure you can teach a old dog new tricks. In Butch's case he may either have too or find a cushy job back in the American conference. That was pretty much a call out to the staff. I frankly don't know how they thought a run/pass ratio that lopsided was going to work. Especially in the conference.

I'm getting a little tired of blaming these losses solely on the coaches. If Dobbs had held onto the ball on our end of the field, we probably win. If 3 players don't just stand by and watch and get taken out by one blocker on the fourth down play, we probably win. There were so many plays not made by our guys that would have made the difference. Did the coaches screw up? Yes they did but it's stupid to lay all the blame at their feet. Same thing in the Okie game. Pass interference in the end zone, etc.. This ripping the coaches is just getting old. Move on people. Suck it up buttercup.

Well coached players Don't just stand and watch!
But everybody must just be negA-vols!

So you're saying that the lack of effort by these players is not a coaching issue?

I'll hang up and listen
Lack of effort is a player issue. If you need a coach up your rear end to give effort, you don't need to be playing. A coach should NEVER, EVER have to coach effort.

Have you ever had a coach tell you to stand around with your thumb in your rear and just watch? I'm sure they were told to go brain dead on critical plays Geez........

The media reacts and loves to stir the pot. So, the coach made bad calls as part of a loss where missed late tackles based on bad angles to break big plays and key injuries also played a part. The news is hungry and now angry fan base is pissed and has turned on a rising coach that dominated recruiting. It is up there with burning beds when they were jilted. If you're UGA, UF, UA, USC, LSU, etc you love this crap and want to fuel the fire. They love VolNation cannibalizing itself, and we fall for the bait every time.. Every thread feeds an article or criticism that feeds a thread and so on. Every piece on Urban Meyer and Nick Saban is a fluff feel good piece or is spun that way. They feed ESPN or CBS canned stories (I remember a CBS game where Tim and Urban are tossing the ball with kids at a picnic "because we are all one big freaking happy family - put the knife away Aaron and play with a kid")

If things don't make a complete 180 starting today then i feel it's just a matter of time before the Jones era is over at UT. For the record i think it sucks because i like the guy! He is one helluva recruiter!
He's been a good salesman selling a great product....but honestly, I think the reality is the SEC is waking us up to the reality that he is a bit of a fraud as a HC. Or at minimum, he's just over his head, at this level. He had a winning resume at Cincinnati, but that was largely his riding the coattail of Brian Kelly's success.

Rather than him using much of Kelly's offense, he has his own and it's proven to have major problems. Being highly unbalanced is one. Every good HC knows you HAVE to try and stay somewhat balanced with the run and pass. We have as much talent at the WR position as the RB spot...yet Butch won't exploit that advantage.

I hope he and the staff decide to make a wholesale change starting today, but we'll have to wait and see. I thought he learned, last week, when he had some balls in the first half...but resorted to Full Butch in the 2nd half again.

I just scanned through posts by MBRO.
You're a liar.
I'm sure this post gets deleted and that's ok, I just hope you read it first. Because you're F.O.S.

What are you, Musberger's publicist? I don't disagree with ANY of the Butch criticism, but if you've paid any attention at all to Musberger over the last several years, it's fairly obvious he's not your most reliable source.

Give it a break. Butch is our coach and will remain or coach for at least two years unless he resigns which is not going to happen. All this negativity is going to do is run down the program further than it currently is. Everyone of us make mistakes. Especially in the heat of the game. I know he makes a astronomical amount of money but he is still human. I not going to list all the good he has done for this program let just say he has improved it enough to make us relevant. This continuing to criticize the program with not real logic being applied is going to set this program back even further. Hindsight is always 20/20. If these talking heads are so intelligent why are most of them coaches which were sent packing from their previous coaching positions. Let get behind our University and the coaches we have. The young men who have committed to this coach and our University deserve our support.

It's hard to watch any college-football shows when you've suxed for a decade. I haven't listened to college football talk on tv or radio for years--too painful. I'm pretty sure that if we were good we'd be watching gameday.

I used to love to watch it, because I liked hearing them hype up our game, but like you, since we have not had much to hype, do not care to hear about other teams excitement.

Maybe the question to ask is, will the Vols secondary be able to tackle today and especially in the 4th quarter?

So goes the tackling, so goes Jones future?
Quite possibly

I'll be candid, here. I was pissed when he was hired. A lot of folks have made fun of the prospect of Gruden coming...but Gruden recently mentioned he was indeed pretty close to pulling the trigger. But Hart has always been the cheapskate....just like Hamilton was.

I do think Gruden wants to coach, and he's even said part of him really wants to coach again. But after Hart fumbled the ball, by not giving the man what he wanted, ESPN re-worked his contract to make it too lucrative to leave, now.

So, we had/have to make the best of it. At least Butch did have a winning resume....albeit at smaller conferences. But, I never did buy his "Best staff in America." That was said to get the most $$$ he could get from Hart, thinking Butch was going to search far and wide for the "best." Instead, he just brought over his buds from UC. That was his first con job and it worked.

He's been conning top level recruits into playing here, when he is a horrible gameday coach, and his offense is horribly unbalanced. He practically NEVER takes shots downfield, to let our big WR's make a play on the ball, get a PI call or just use it a handful of times per game to make defensive coordinators respect the deep passing game, and spread their defense out.

I hope the humiliation they brought upon themselves and the program has caused the whole staff to do some serious introspection, and a will to change their bad habits.

I don't know all the information on the Gruden stuff like you, but everything else you said I agree with. Well said.

Hopefully Butch straps on a pair today!

Tennessee football is being fixed, the "%$^^ification of the fan base not so much.

My theory is that ESPN is wanting everyone to know that they were right for hyping us up during the pre-season and would still be right if it weren't for that dastardly Butch Jones and his cronies...lol

Guys lets face it...Butch is the worst gameday coach we've ever had. Worse than Dooley. He has the same record with significantly greater talent and an easier schedule. It just goes to show how important coaching is. Recruiting is great but it all comes down to coaching. There are a lot of programs full of 2* players that would blow us off the field (Utah, tcu, Michigan state, ect)

So tired of all the negativity. My kids just asked my why I haven't worn my TN jersey recently.

Thought this thread got deleted and then got mad. Sorry freak. Really wish I could stop caring anymore but I do ever since I was a little kid. Here's the deal, aside from the OU and FL blunders TN has the athletes to beat ARK today, GA and BAMA. No, not getting ahead of myself. I realize nobody thinks we will be 5-2 but here's to it. I think Butch and co beat ARK today, beat GA and BAMA and goes to 5-2 :clapping:
