Very good article that helps put recruit ratings and class rankings in perspective:

ESPN | Forde: Signing day a start, not a destination

It's a little long but worth the read, IMO.

An excerpt:

" The question isn't how good a recruiting class is in February; it's how good the class is from September to January two, three and four years from now. Which means that the following factors matter far more than how many stars have been assigned to each player's name:

How hard are they going to work?

How well will they fit with their program?

How well will they be coached?

How much will they grow up?

And how toxic are the effects of excessive hype and hero worship on the highest-rated recruits in the nation? "

Hey, let's keep the balanced and solid understanding to a minimum around here. We're trying to get all the stars we can in the next few days. :)

Good read, I really like the 3-4 star players because they always feel they have something to prove...The 5 stars seem to want spots given instead of earned.

:hi:
I hear you, man. I see the same thing on every forum I visit -- So many folks getting so wrapped up in the players' star ratings and their school's class ranking. It's inevitable, I suppose, due to the competitive nature of fans.
