News just broke on Sports center. It looks like this is legit. I don't know quite what to make of this... But I'll continue to support the program and hope for the best.

I think its good. How many Bowl wins did Kiffin have coming in? He was the recruiter for Saban at LSU. Give the guy a chance to prove himself. He has more experience than Muschamp and was able to win a bowl at La Tech. Stop hating on this guy He is young and can be EXACTLY what we needed to turn the program around

Hamilton got desperate after all those rejections and started offering the job to anyone with a pulse. Dooley will not match up with the top coaches in the SEC. Hopefully, hamilton didn't blow it worse and allow a large buyout in the contract.

Bye Hamilton. This is Tennessee. A University which has millions of dollars, history and tradition, and the best we can get is a 4-8 coach from the WAC conference? What a joke.

Let's hope he can save some of this recruiting class. He could establish his name early if he could save this years class.

Actually espn news on tv just reported that the announcement was premature and a contract hasn't been signed yet, although Dooley is still the top candidate.

I don't know why everybody is so sure that he can't coach. I mean, what makes you think he will do any worse then kiffin? He was a recruiter for Saban when LSU won it's national Give the guy a chance.

1-15-2010 the death of UT football.

Hamilton save face if this is true and don't bother coming back to Knoxville.

UNREAL IF TRUE.
I have a hard time believing this though. Hamilton knows he is done if he hires this guy.

Yeah, you can kiss Hamilton's job goodbye. This is not a good hire at all. He was trying to recreate a Bruce Pearl hire, but that's doesn't work in football. We needed a homerun hire to not only save what's left of our program, but his job as well. I can assure you Dooley will not be that guy.

Kiffin's resume coming into Knoxville: 5-15 record. Recruited/asst. for USC during title runs. Powerful father, and possible staff surrounding him.

Dooley's: 17-20, recruited/asst. for LSU during title runs. Powerfull father, and possible staff surrounding him.

I don't see why this is by any means the end of the world? Wait for week 5 next season to judge the man.

Let me guess, all the people freaking out saying Dooley is the end of the world are the ones that were saying no to Calhoun because he would bring the option? Ya'll are idiots

I can't take it anymore. ESPN just added this to the story: "An announcement could be made by Tennessee officials as early as Friday. However, a source told ESPN.com that the deal is not finalized and that Houston's Kevin Sumlin remains a possibility."

I'll back whoever gets the job and give them 2-3 years to see what happens. UT through and through!!! But if this fails, Hammie will be gone.
