ESPN.com (Gene Wojciechowski) re-seeds the sweet sixteen

We were unranked most of the season but ended up in the top-16 at the end. I don't feel like UT is being slighted because there are some very good bball teams still playing that beat us or are just playing better ball. Just win and it takes care of itself.

Dont forget every recruit will be watching these games (including the Big Orange)

4: TENNESSEE (previous NCAA seed: 5)

Someone had to be the final seeded team of my Sweet 16, so it's the Vols, who probably deserve better. They scored a zillion points against Long Beach State, and then were able to win a slow-down game against No. 4 (still trying to figure that seeding out) Virginia. UT coach Bruce Pearl, perhaps suffering from the aftereffects of too much orange body paint, made a great case to USA Today's Kelly Whiteside on why the Vols are overachievers: a 6-3 power forward, a freshman point guard, a freshman center, mid-major talent with high-major work ethic. Of course, the Vols also have the human microwave machine, guard Chris Lofton.

In case someone didnt see it

Being the last of only sixteen teams left in the NCAA tournament is not bad. It's all gravy from hear on out has been repeated on VN many times the last couple days. So, being mentioned last in some articles at this point in the tournament is better then not being mentioned at all which has been the case for some years now.

Exactly. This is the real benefit of still being in the tourney. And if we win on Thursday, oh my.

And these rankings will only fire our boys up even more.

Kinda works. Has anyone on here compared lofton to Vinnie Johnson? Pistons guard from the 80s and early 90s. Dude could score at will and in bunches.

I might toy with USC and Oregon as being switched up. Otherwise, looks about right to me.

At least we are in the sweet 16, if I had been told coming into the tourney that before the sweet 16 people would consider us the worst team left I would be elated. Now lets hope we are the worst team left in the elite 8 and the worst team left in the final 4. I think we all could deal with that

well i think it's pretty cool that at no point in the season were we this close to being a top 10 team, and after two games, we find ourselves part of the top 16 teams in the country...and someone has to be 16....and if that's us, fine. in all honesty, i could see us being the 1st #4, but probably no higher than that...

it's not like he said we should be out of it or something.....

...and then we can be the worst team in the National Championship, and then the Worst National Champions of the year. :)

Even though I don't see us making it that far, it would be great!

Vandy sux!!! I can't believe they are still getting all the props. We're would they be if they didn't get that last second tip against us. Wouldn't get second in the east. Would have to of played LSU in the SEC tourney. Probably would have ended up as a 7 or 8 seed instead of 6. I can root for the SEC, but it's hard to root for Vandy. I do hope we both make it to the final 4, so we can beat them one more time. They do not deserve more props than us!!!

He was pounded into ut hatred submission by Trev Alberts years ago.:)

I watched a College Gameday preview show before the 05 season in which Trev said we were the over rated team of the SEC. After that I joined the "Trev Alberts is a Gigantic Ass Clown Club" on facebook...Little did I know he would be right.

Damn him.
