Win some big games and recruiting will be fine. Lose games we shouldn't-it's gonna be a rough ride-again. Please, please win.

In some serious denial

Are you retarded? Where were we ranked in june last year or the year before? What about in the 90's. Oh thats right nobody gives a ****!

Tennessee is known as a strong closer because we typically only sign a few in state kids so we have to do a little more work than others.

Deja vu? Every year some moron starts a thread about how we suck at recruiting, sky is falling, etc. 8 months later this thread will get bumped when we finish right around a top 10 class. Nothing to see here, move along, spend some time with the family..

Only since Dooley has arrived.

I use Rivals, ESPN, Scout etc... to look at the offer list and that's it. Even then I don't make premature assumptions that they are the next Mark Ingram if Bama has offered or a nobody if they only have an Vandy offer. There are all kinds of variables to take into play.

This bugs me. Why say "have an Vandy offer" instead of "have a Vandy offer?"

I hear people using phrasing like this now and then and it makes absolutely no sense.

Failure to recruit well leads to failure on the field, at least in the SEC.....

Also, in Dooley's 3 recruiting classes, he has an average finish of 13th

Average the 8 classes before him (as far back as rivals goes), 14.4

Dooley might not coach well, but he can recruit well.

and where did his classes rank within the SEC? 7th/8th best?

Bought the stupidest argument there is. We are in the toughest conference in the NCAA, with teams finishing in the top 10 and winning NCs. Let alone the fact that Florida and Georgia could just recruit their state and land a top 10 class with ease.

While TN has won 23 games in 4 years, we pull an avg of 13th and it sucks? Because we couldn't beat out NCs and schools with talent rich states?

really? we're not in the top 10? damn I was thinking when I opened the thread we'd be no.1 or at least in the top 5. I mean considering we had such a great last couple of seasons and a coach with such great job security and all. seriously...if we have a successful season we'll end up in the top 12-17 like we have the last few seasons and that will be enough to compete at a high level. our coaches just need to do a good job evaluating the players avaliable and get high character kids that fill our positions of need and we'll be ok

I wish I could find the thread breaking down how close the rankings were. Something like one player being a 4 star could mean moving up or down 2-3 places....

I've got something to do at work today.

Yeah the difference between the #5 class and the #10 class is much smaller than people seem to believe.

This gets talked about every year, yet people seem to forget.

I will find the thread breaking it down with numbers. Why it's not stickied I have no idea!
