I heard the Mortenson interview last week on the Sports Animal when he made that comment. The entire interview was basically Mortenson stating why Kiffen would be a great hire for UT. He said he's known him since he was about ten. Mort sounded like Kiffen's agent or something. Very subjective analysis.

It was breifly addressed. Mort said that Monte made over $2mil per year so he didn't think so. He also mentioned the NFL pension as a reason why Monte would probably not come. Then he asked what does Tennessee pay their coordinators and chuckled.

Smith said no... Gruden seems to just be flirting. Kiffin remains the main target.

You must be watching something different tham me. Kiffin remains who's main target? Mort certainly didn't say he was the Vol's main target.

He said "He still reamains a prime candidate" regarding Kiffin. I just backed it up and watched it again. That certainly doesn't mean the Vols are hot after Kiffin. I'd say not or we'd have pulled the trigger already.

Well I like that we are approaching guys like Lovie. We need a big name. Kelly is not the answer. So why not approach Billick and others, maybe even some OCs or DCs in the NFL.
