Who is the best defensive player in the draft:

NCAA College Football Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - College Football - ESPN

Suh is the better college player, but I am always skeptical of dominant DT's in college. Guys like Dorsey, Henderson, etc. are good pro's but nowhere near as dominant as they were in college cause they can't just rely on power and size cause the NFL is so much bigger and stronger. I think Berry will be a bigger immediate impact. Needless to say I voted for Berry. Might have to do with the fact that I'm all Vol.

Suh is probably the best defensive player in the draft this year. And will be the number 1 pick. Berry is the second best defensive player, and easily the best DB though.

Sorry EB, but I gotta go with Suh. If you don't, I wonder if you've watched him play or not.

Pointless question, they play two different positions. To me, its like asking: who is better....Ray Lewis or Ed Reed?

Who's the better UT offensive player? Tee Martin, or Chad Clifton? Don't dodge the question. Lol.

Sorry, but Suh is the nexxt in a long line of highly touted DT's, but my question is how many of them have been busts?

Not saying Suh will be cause I love watching him play, but EB can change a defense like Reed, Polomalu, and other impact safties do.

While Suh may be the better player, I think EB can make a larger impact on the entire defensive scheme of a team.

Troy Polomalu, Ed Reed and Bob Sanders(before injury) showed what kind of impact they can have but you also have to look at the players around them. Joey Porter and Casey Hampton. Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs. Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis. They all had more than that too.

Watching Haynesworth, defensive tackle might be the most important position. If he can get to the qb, allow people to get to the qb and stuff the run... you can't pass that up.

Good solid points

Yes DT is one of if not the most important positions, but how many top safeties are busts? Few to none.

How many top DT's in the draft end up being busts? I really high rate.

I would go with EB.

Berry is the best defensive player in the draft...Suh is very good, but he isn't head and shoulders above McCoy. Suh, McCoy will get drafted higher based on the position they play...need over value...Berry will have the best career.

Let me ask you all something: When somebody asks you a question and lists a few possible answers, do you just immediately compare the options presented or do you actually think about the question itself? LOL what a loaded question they are asking you to compare a DT to a S is that not just stupid? Of course the DL is more important than the secondary this question is basically trying to bring out the homer in you.

Or you can use historical drafts to also compare how often DT are total busts or partial busts compared to Safties taken in the top 10 or even the first half of round 1.

Isn't Suh like 300 lbs? That's plenty big enough for a 4-3 DT. Don't know of many 300 lb DEs in the NFL, even in 3-4 defenses.

Good point, but i guess i was really talking more about being a dominate DT. Someone like a Haynesworth who goes 350 can move around the huge OL's in the NFL. Against a team like Dallas, Suh would struggle.

DT's have more of an effect on the defensive scheme, they are the root of all defense. And Suh is a once-a-decade type talent. Berry is still a top-5 quality pick, but I wouldn't say he's that much better than any safety that comes out any other year.

Yeah, Suh isn't miles better than McCoy. McCoy would normally be the best DT in any draft, and will probably turn out to be one of the better ones drafted recently.

I ran into Suh in the elevator down from Portland City Grill recently (he went to HS about half a mile from where I live) and he would have had me fooled for 300 lbs. That is a mammoth human being.

Ok looking back outside of Ellis and Dorsey, not many top 8 DT's for several years.

Maybe they have learned their lessons.

Again, I feel that EB will allow a team to do more overall then Suh who I think probably has to play the 3 technique in the pros.
