I would rather go to the Outback rather than the Cotton for these reasons:

Ice. It can turn nasty in Texas that time of the year. Remember Casey in the Ice Bowl?
Fox carries the Cotton Bowl on one of the alternate channels. Hard to locate, not seen all over the country.
Cotton is a day game, Outback is night. :dance2:

If we win out I predict we play Iowa in the Outback Bowl. Iowa will lose two games in the regular season. I would rather play the Buckeyes though.

If we play Iowa then EB will own the interception return yardage record because their QB loves throwing interceptions!

Do any of you guys know how freakin cold and rainy it is in Dallas in Jan? The weather for the Cotton Bowl almost always SUCKs! Let's see do we want to freeze our tail off in Dallas?....Or go to Tampa Where it's usally 70 degrees and sunny with about a million things to do within 2 hr drive? Serious no brainer. BTW lived both places so experiance is first hand.

This was my #1 reason not to want the Cotton. :good!:

Cotton, please

Cotton Cotton Cotton Cotton

Unfortunately, the Outback would have to pick Georgia or South Carolina ahead of us, and I don't see that happening.

You would just hate having the game in Dallas, wouldn't you? :) Hope it works out that way!

If we win out, my money is betting on the Outback Bowl. As has been mentioned, we'd be their likely choice over Jawja and S'Karlina. Plus, I read an article recently that the Outback committee is just dying to have a chance to have the money that Tennessee fans typically bring paired with the chance to have the Full Monte back on the sidelines for the hometown crowd.

After the vacuous suck of The Season of Constant Sorrow (2008), I'd be happy to play in just about any bowl this year.

No question 'bout it -- Lane "the Blackjack General" Kiffin has done us proud so far...

Cotton Bowl with Sooners would be my preferrence. Call me stupid but #2 choice would be Chic Fil A with a good ACC team e.g. Va. Tech, Miami, Ga. Tech or maybe Clemson. I know Outback is a tier above but a match-up with Wisconsin or Iowa does not excite me. Penn State or OSU wouldn't be bad. Forgive me not really up on our possible Big 10 or ACC match-ups. Also I think CLK will put an end to our Georgia Dome woes of late. Lastly, 11 am New Years Day games suck for the fans and really everyone involved.

Cotton bowl would be great. That's the only one that I could go to. Isn't the Outback an 11 am game (makes it a 10 am game here)? I have a hard time getting into a football game that early in the morning.

I might be wrong, but I think both the Outback & Cotton bowls start around 11 Eastern.

I seem to remember the 2005 Cotton Bowl vs Texas A&M was an early game

Just looked it up --> Cotton Bowl kicks off at 10:40 CST

Like I said earlier, bowl tie ins require the Outback to select another team from the East BEFORE the Cotton is allowed to select a non-WEST team, and any selection preference requires that the team with the best record with a leeway of one game in the conference record is taken first...

That means that UGA/SC/KY have to finish within a game of us and be selected first by the Outback, while LSU has to have at least 3 losses.(and would probably still be preferential due to location)

There aren't many feasible scenarios barring a full SEC collapse that puts us in the Cotton Bowl.

On the bright side, this is the weakest slate of non-BCS bowl teams we've ever put out, it's entirely possible a 6-6 team could end up in the Peach Bowl this year with vacancies the rest of the way down.

BCS - Alabama(13-0) and Florida(12-1)
Capital One - LSU(10-3)
Outback - Tennessee(8-4)
Cotton - Auburn(7-5)
Peach - South Carolina(7-5)
Music City - Kentucky(6-6)
Liberty - Mississippi(7-5)
Independence - Georgia(6-6)
Papajohns - Arkansas(6-6)

^that is a best case scenario.

who do you have florida losing to?

Alabama in the SECCG.

I just want to win out. I don't really care about the bowl. Just win out. That would be a major accomplishment in my eyes.

Cotton would be great, but Outback gets first choice of Eastern division teams. Thus, Outback would have to choose USCjr or UGA over UT - not happening.

you've got to factor in the west teams though. We've seen LSU end up in the outback and chick-fil-a bowls in the past few years, which are both supposed to be choose teams from the East division bowls

I don't care as long as we get to go to a bowl game...that extra month of practice can do wonders for a team.

I hate that the cotton bowl is no longer on Jan 1st, incredibly stupid. I have to say I would have been pretty excited about the Liberty bowl actually, so anything like the Cotton or Outback sounds awesome!!

I just want to go to a bowl, win VOls win, please beat Ole Miss as that is a long drive from upper Tennessee, nine and a half hours for me, I am leaving on that Thursday to make the trip a little easier!!
