Sorry, I do not consider myself a troll. I didn't say ya'll did not have any players from the 07 SEC Championship Game, I just asked the question. 9 players, I would agree that is not many. I admit, I am not an avid follower of Tennessee Football but I have looked at the scores of your football games since the Manning days. I am a huge fan of his and had many friends play against him in high school. The only point I'm trying to make is some people on here think the only reason Kiffin is loosing ballgames is because he does not have talent. All I'm saying is the coaches have to take some of the blame. Looking back at history, Fulmer was not a bad coach for the Vols. 17 seasons as a head coach with only 2 seasons less than .500. Finished in the Top 25 14 times. Matter of fact, in that 2007 season, the Vols finished #12 in the Coaches and AP polls.

However, I do agree that the Vols needed a coaching change, but I do not believe Kiffin was the answer. He had a losing record as a head coach (mind you it was with the Raiders) but he still has a losing record. Mike Leach would have been better and I think Gruden would have been a better fit. I think the Vols AD fell in Love with Kiffins' BS factor. Let's face it, he can talk a good game, now it is time for him to prove it.

Research how many "top prospects" we brought in to replace those that left off of that SECCG roster and you'll see that many are gone or was just flat overrated.
EDIT: PS, I also said we potentially have the talent but they are unproven in game situations.

Anyone thinking we have the talent to be competitive right now because of Phil's ship-sinking recruiting, and calling for Kiffin's head five games into the season, should all be dragged out into the middle of the street and shot.

I see what you are saying. For me, I do not put much emphasis on the "stars" in recruiting because some high stars are busts and some low starts wind up being superstars. Two examples, LSU had Ryan Perrilloux, highly recruited and because his head was not on straight, he was kicked off the football team. The second was Jacob Hester, he was a 2 star recruit that basically kept LSU for having the #1 class that year but turned out to be the heart and soul of our 07 NC run.

Recruitinng is like the NFL draft and as ole Forest Gump would say, you never know what you are going to get.

Too bad for us we got a bag full of garbage for the most part...the old staff recruited players with disciplinary problems, some were overrated, etc. And yes, Jacob Hester was a man-child. Too bad Perrilloux isn't still as LSU instead of killing my FCS team in conference...

So LSU is mainly going after 2 and 3 star recruits now?

I never said that. What I was trying to say is you really never know what you are going to get no matter what "Star" they are. You as a Vols fan should believe the same, wasn't your star QB Jonathan Crompton a 4 or 5 Star recruit? What Star would you put him now.

This is a discussion board. As such, I recommend you try to put a little more thought into your posts, at least the way that you word them. That would help us to engage on the topic at hand. For example:

"What I was trying to say is you really never know what you are going to get no matter what "Star" they are."

We know that there is a linkage between star ratings and what college coaches think of recruits because the top 250/300 players are being recruited by the same 40 odd schools. But, if you never know what you are getting, there is no reason to recruit these guys that are huge and can run fast. Roll the dice. Recruit the chess club and "develop" them. They will learn the entire playbook in about three days. They can get the defense to jump offsides by barking signals in Klingon.

"You as a Vols fan should believe the same, wasn't your star QB Jonathan Crompton a 4 or 5 Star recruit? What Star would you put him now."

This is like finding one severed rat penis in one Big Mac and concluding all Big Macs contain severed rat penises.

Yo, First Comparison Of Crompton to a Severed Rat Penis in Your Big Mac! :mega_shok:

Look, when a guy that has never accomplished a single thing in his coaching career and keeps getting jobs because of who his daddy is comes in to the SEC and starts slandering every program and declares domination, then fails miserably, he is probably going to get some negative publicity. Are you surprised?

Please quit talking. Go to the vandy board and talk about how great Bobby Johnson is, cuz we have had enough of you and your kind on here.

Kudos to MH for thinking outside the box on this hire. Even if it doesn't work out (and it will) he took a very different approach to this one...more of an NFL approach. We just need a QB and 2 good receivers. That's what I think, anyway.

Agree 100%:good!:

Very few of us are surprised that Kiffin has gotten some negative publicity for what he has said.

No worries folks.... These so-called "pundits" are the same types of folks ( and in some cases the VERY folks) who told us with a straight face that Ryan Leaf would have a much better career than Peyton would, because Peyton had "happy feet" and couldn't win the big game. In two years just watch... Kiffin will become the "Young Genius" and we'll have to fight off the NFL when they decide they want him back.

Contrary to popular belief, ESPN does not hate us.

It is baffling how many of you people continue to push this theory..especially with the
"An Official ESPN Affiliate" at the top of the forums.

Absolutely ridiculous. There is no conspiracy.
