ESPN article- Fulmer and coaching

I have this sad image in my mind of Fulmer sitting at his desk, waiting for his phone to ring......and it never does.

some ne'er do well, middle or lower tier of the conference school would probably end up taking him....that's usually how these things end up going

Why would a guy who won 2 conference titles in 16 full seasons as a head coach want to work for a program "committed to winning championships?" It'll just mean he gets fired sooner.

Stop it stupid thats priceless, but not as priceless the one who printed this toilet paper! :eek:lol:

Phillip Fulmer....new head coach of Appalachian State....book it!!!

you know, you'd think after 3 national championships at that level, one of the smaller DI schools would come calling with some OC/DC (don't know his specialty) job for that coach, but i guess noone has.......but that's way off topic for this thread, sorry

Good grief!!!! Give Fulmer a break. He did a good job for us and now that we have parted ways, why not wish the man well????? He ran a clean program ( when compared to other SEC schools) and his ex players love him and look up to him. I agree it was time for him to go, but don't hate on the guy.....and on a side note, Chavis would love to "hitch his wagon" to Fulmer, because Fulmer helped him just as much as Chavis helped Fulmer.

Dude your opening a DOOR here you may not want to.Please stop what your doing run to Home Depot and buy a DeadBolt to help keep you in your little dream world.

Please do not forget, Coach Phil played a HUGE part in getting the talent TN had in the late 80's and early 90's (which I feel is the peak of TN football, ie. Andy Kelly). Phil, along with the rest of the coaching staff started recruiting such states as OH, PA, CA, etc...I think he got lazy the last 7 years or so and that is what got him fired, and it should have. The whole thing with Majors getting ticked off when he was fired was self induced. Majors was a drunk and an idiot. Should have been fired 10 years before he was. When u have a coaches meeting with a fully stocked bar, it is time for a change. Anyways, Phil is a part of Tennessee Football history and he always will be. I wish him luck

Coach Fulmer managed recruiting classes (by that i mean when you look at the energy required to bring in top classes for the Vols, its way more involved than say florida). I think he worked harder more consistently on the recruiting trial pre-NC. Afterward he managed it with every couple of years attempting to load up. Bu he left this program in not very good shape talent wise.

The coaching of said recruits was (mediocre at best). The gameplan/gameday adjustments against the top opponent that matter most was dismal.

I hope he does well. But those expectations are NOT realistic.

The most venomous, caustic, anti-Majors/pro-Fulmer post I've ever seen.

With the talent he had in the late 90's, I could have coached the team to a win over Kentucky, Vandy, lil'SC, and Miss. St.

I wish whatever East Carolina/Central Florida/Louisville type program he's going to land at would go ahead and hire The Fired Coach. That way, all the stooges and sycophants who love him so much can get the Hell out of here and leave rooting for the Vols to Tennesse fans. The Fulmer State crowd isn't needed here anymore.

Either that or its from being 9 months pregnant for the last 10 years

Chavis had good and bad points. Hatvol in all his wisdom I am sure felt comfortable with Chavis SUCKING against option teams for multiple years.

I am sure he also enjoyed watching us give up the third and long pass play more often than not.

I for one am SOOOO happy that Slade is not non recruiting for us and coaching DBs to never turn their head to find the ball.

Sad part is, true TN fans said the same thing about Majors back in the late 80's early 90's.

No Nobody said anything about Majors unless they we uninformed............But Majors wasn't perfect but he knew what had to be done to get to the NC game. Since he already had a ring, so if the Robinson injury had not happened,85 might have been an NC.

... and Chuck Webb injury cost him one probably.

To be honest, I would love to see Fulmer coach again and end up either in the ACC or the PAC-10. Just because I am curious to see what would happen.

Majors made his bottle and had to lay in it, Fulmer had senioritis when Spurrier left and focused too much attention on Bama OFF THE FIELD, he has his bed and can lay in it. CLK may not make it but at least there is and excitement and the "unknown" factor in Knoxville again. I will give him a two year pass unless it goes really ugly.
