ESPN and TN

I don't think everyone who works at ESPN hates Tennessee, but I honestly believe there are some higher-ups who do have an axe to grind with the Vols. Even when UT was at their most successful there were snide remarks (the trailer park incident) and the ad where the pig was named Rocky Top. Pretty nasty stuff, IMO, and brother, did they pour it on during the Kiffen era. Our best response, as some of you have already said, is just winning. When we're back on top, our enemies can just eat their black hearts out.

I think the South in general has a bad rap from sports media rather than UT. As a yankee, I ALWAYS got weird looks when people find out Im a UT alum. I mean why else would ESPN still debate best football conference without either a regional bias or sheer stupidity.

Because according to some of the genius residing here, the program is hated by ESPN, ABC and CBS.

When you consider the Notre Dame TV deal you could probably throw NBC in there too.

Apparently the only good tv relationships we have include the local knoxville Fox stations and PBS.

I still don't get why this was a stupid thread? I was just saying that TN gets ignored by ESPN over and over again. I didn't mention anything about ABC or CBS or NBC.

Actually, they did mention us today when they delayed the WV game. Briefly, but they did mention it.

By the way, if Bray is not gay and he sees "Gay for Bray"...he's gotta be either laughing or freaked out. Even if he is gay, I'm sure he would be freaked out lol.

Everything that ever gets talked about is beating a dead horse. Bray is questionable, the O-line is questionable, Poole is questionable...it's all the same crap over and over again, so why would you think this would be some kind of special thread that was never talked about before?

Only idiots think there's some sort of weird ESPN vendetta against UT. Ridiculous is what it is.

I don't think ESPN hates TN. Rather ESPN is like a lot of the sportsmedia and is just lazy and parrots whatever the prevailing wisdom is at that time. The prevailing wisdom right now is Tennessee was a train wreck and check back in five years. Until TN beats Florida or Alabama, we have to live with it. Sadly college football is not far distant from politics-once you get defined it is very hard to change. In football only wins will change anything.

I really don't care about espn's view of us, all I care about is that they put us on TV as much as possible...

Espn loves to promote the "hot program". If TN starts winning aganist the current elite in the SEC, they will be getting right attention. Game day is not coming unless it is a big game and both are ranked. Our time will come. GBO

ESPN focuses on who wins and who they big stories are. Not many .500 type teams get much coverage positive or negative. Especially when they have been down a few years. Even Michigan has lost quite a bit of the coverage they had. They want to the big story teams, the Florida, Texas, Ohio St, USC, those type of teams. Tennessee doesn't have media markets the size of viewers in those states and fans of those teams. They cater to the teams with the biggest markets I think. See Red Sox-Yankees, Lakers, Cowboys, Patriots, Giants, Jets, and similar teams. Being a national network I can see their point though, you cater to what your audience wants. If Knoxville or Nashville was a LA, NY, DC type of market I think UT would get similar coverage.

I agree, the "ESPN hates us" used to be a joke, now it's downright pathetic that some on here actually believe they do.
