espn analysts poking fun at aj mccarron

It is not clear which one was in error.
It is clear that both articles had multiple sources.

It is not clear how close to or far from the sides were to a deal unless you are one of the parties involved. I'm not.

You are missing the point. The Free-Press may have had multiple sources, but they were the only one's reporting that the deal broke down over pay for assistants. Multiple outlets reported that Gruden wasn't interested, and each outlet had multiple sources ranging from those close to Gruden, inside the UT program, and in the NFL.

You can choose to believe the Free-Press story if you want. But doing so requires ignoring some key facts.

That's good. Pick out our worst three games.

I want a QB whose worst game results in a 5 point loss to a Top 10 team.

You can keep the guy whose worst game results in only scoring 7 point against Kentucky, getting blown out by Vanderbilt, or getting trounced by my team's biggest rival, and looking like he quit in all three.

Tennessee's offense this season would have been very limited under AJ, unless he has skills we haven't seen.

Georgia would say they appreciate those fumbles and interceptions coming down the home stretch of the Tennessee game. That 40 yard stab in the heart by AJ to Amari Cooper, in the waning moments, not so much.

What round do you expect AJ to get taken in next year?

If Alabama and Tennessee were equals in talent and coaching, your point would carry more weight.

You're right. It's all coaching. The good coaches didn't want Bray. That's why he only had offers from UT, Fresno State and San Diego State.

Multiple outlets reported that Gruden contacted coaches to discuss the possibility of joining him on a staff at Tennessee if he took the job. You don't do that if you're not interested. I'm guessing the outlets you're referring to were all repeating the same story that came out the morning after the Hargis story was posted.

I don't know how close they actually got to a deal, and neither do you.

I guess if I were a Bama fan, I'd want to take a dump on the suggestion that UT could ever have a great coach too.

He was committed to SDSU before his senior season even started. We don't know who else would have tried to get in on him had he waited.

It's a fact that his NFL stock is higher than AJ's. I guess the NFL is full of bad coaches.

Bull crap. A verbal commitment has never stopped a coach from offering. He attended camp at a couple of Pac-12 schools and didn't receive offers from either.

If the scouts are watching next year's Tennessee game, very, very, very, very, very, very ,very, very, early.

Awesome post.
It helps sum up what happened to this thread.

This tread was started, because the OP found it interesting that the football world wasn't perfect for Alabama for at least one segment of a TV show. Then, some others agreed that it's a refreshing breath of air.

But, you Bammers will have none of that. You've been quite fortunate as a fan for six years and counting, and you need to come into this thread to remind us of how perfect your college football lives are. We get that.

Now, back to the topic, which is simply that AJ isn't a high-round NFL pick. He is not the best QB in college right now either. But, he is very good and very effective with the team he is playing on.

FWIW, if TAMU had played Bama's SEC schedule, Bama would not have played in the SEC title game. TAMU had to play UF, and, gasp, Bama got to play UT.

Between last year and this year, it's obviously sometimes better to be lucky than good. It should have been OkSU playing LSU last year, and TAMU and UF were the best teams in the two divisions this year, but Bama and UGA lucked out with the scheduling.

Awesome post.

Well, it is volnation. It is what people do. But you knew that.

Now, where would point be without counterpoint? Think of it as the laws of natural thought requiring an accounting. Less painful.

Not painful at all, unlike you algae lovers I don't allow my team to make me feel inferior or superior to other people.

it doesn't take much effort.alabubba being one of the most penalized teams in the ncaa for infractions.athlon sports has ala at number1 for most unethical programs for football and cbs sports has ala at #1 for the most penalized since 1987.

so, he probably is coming back for the money....

Tennessee is currently on probation.

Alabama is not.
