Reaves may be a favor to his father-in-law but seems odd that Spurrier would have kept him around if he couldn't coach. The others have been cashing big time paychecks for awhile so again you don't see programs like Alabama carry dead wood.

However, I'll take great talent over great scheme if I can only have one. I remember days when we had so much talent that we could tell the other team the play and they still couldn't stop us. Pounded UGA one year with Little Man for 8 or 9 straight running plays. Carl Pickens/Dale Carter et al could be out of position and still make the play on athletic ability alone.

EB has that kind of talent..

We shall see how well these guys get our guys to play. They forgot that Monte Kiffin hasn't recruited in a long time, but everyone knows that he can coach really darn well.

This is just sports entertainment here, its not like they hire these people because they are thoughtful and accurate.

That Kiffin brought in 5 guys for their recruiting abilities and that usually doesn't translate to good coaches.

Orgeron is a top DL coach.
Gran is a top RB coach.
The rest we can take a wait and see approach, but three is not five.
I guess ESPN pays them the big bucks for a reason....They are brilliant...You have to have people that can recruit...Kiffin is the head coach for a reason, to coach and help make the kids better...It looked like from what I saw of the UGA Spring game today on ESPN they are worse off than we are...Final score of 6-3...A lot of offense LOL

In my humble opinion, if Tennessee gets beat in Gainsville this year by only 14 points, give or take, it is a HUGE Public Relations victory. I've heard so many people say that Florida will hang 70 on TN. Never mind they nearly did on Fulmer's watch. Pressure is on Florida (Defending champs), not us. Everyone expects us to get smoked. If we make it a game, ESPN will jump on the band wagon so as to not look stupid and sing the praises of Tennessee and how good we will be in a year or two. 70 points...and it sounds like we have a good Defense. Get realistic people.

Not going to happen. I'll bet the pot.

a loss by 70 and a loss by 1 re losses. Moral victories are for the Vandies and the UKs of the world. I go bananas when I hear folks talk about patting ourselves on the back when we lose to UF by abfew points. Simply unacceptable.

I'll agree that Orgeron is a question mark......if asked about his HEAD coaching abilities. I think its pretty clear, however, that he is a great D-line coach who has been through the proving grounds. Same with Gran. ESPN is just embellishing for the sake of entertainment since there's nothing else to talk about right now.

ESPN is so stupid they couldn't even spell ESPN. I believe we all know that Lane Kiffin and his staff are not going to turn this program around overnight, but I sure as hell love the direction we are going in. With FLA returning the whole team, with the exception Percy Harvin and some of their WRs, in all honesty they should go a perfect 14-0. Lane knows that Urban not only has to beat him, but to beat him bad.

What would you guys rather see against FLA?

Eric Berry get the game clinching INT or Nuke Richardson score the game winning TD over his original commitment.

I personally would like coaches that can get the best athlets in the country Compared to coaches that are good , but can't get the top of the line players (not bashing Vandy). I'll take the best player, with the best speed , ability, instinet, And knowledge of the game that makes him the best. Funny thing is we got the best of both, coaching and recuiting.

I heard this as well and thought it was a strange statement. I'm not sure which 5 he was referring to but UT has 7 coaches out of their 10 with good/great recruiting reps: CLK, CEO, Gran, Wilson, Reaves, Thompson, and Chaney. CMK, Garza, and Cregg are the only ones I wouldn't consider strong recruiters based on prior history (I suspect CMK will be really good at it).

I think the way the statement was phrased he was excluding CLK. I don't think any rational person would argue that 5 out of the 6 recruiters I have mentioned above are weak position coaches. At most the 3 that have already been mentioned in prior posts: Reaves, Wilson, and Thompson might be a little iffy as position coaches. Ultimately though between CLK, CMK, and Chaney I'm not too worried about our QB, receivers, or LB coaching since those guys will be heavily involved.
