Erik Ainge

Ainge is on a short leash, and the coaches are scared to death about how he might or might not perform. Crompton is just a few snaps away from a starting job.

This sounds like a lot of speculation on your part, but then again, we've never had any shortage of speculation regarding Ainge dating back all the way to Spring 05.

Unfortunately it is not all speculation. Ainge has been a dissapointment. Rivals is probably closer to the story than any other publication.

When Coach Cut was asked whether he felt he was viewed as the miracle worker when brought back to UT to coach,he stated he was a small part of it.He also said Erik Ainge had extra pressure on him last year after having such a good showing as a frehman quarterback. He also went on to say people were making comparisons to Ainge and some of the other top qb's who had been at UT.This added pressure as well.I guess in a few days we'll put all this to rest.

If Ainge just plays ok, i think that will be enough for us to win. Our D and skill posistions should be able to carry us enought for that to happen. Hate to say that our QB can play just good enough not to lose us the game, but i really think if Erik isnt back to his 04 form that is what he will need to do.

Think you hit the nail right on the head with that remark.
