Last year Ainge was doing quite nicely in his freshman year developing and improving. Then SOMEBODY? on the last play of the half against ND, UT leading the game, calls a nitwit call and he gets busted up. At that point EA's career was ended. His problem this year stems from that call. He is scared, pure and simple. He will do anything to avoid a shot. Toss it backwards without looking(LSU), throw into double plus+ coverage (ND), intentionally ground the ball(every game), whatever it takes to avoid a shot. He is done,finished, kaput. He may be the worst qb I have seen on "the hill" since uhhh...Randy Sanders. I don't know what a one way filght back home cost for him but let me know and I will pay for it. We need to bag Ain't, excuse me Ainge, and get ready for next year.

Seems to me like bagging Ainge is going to hurt the efforts of getting ready for next year.

How do you explain the improvement of Brady Quinn?

I think the kid has just developed bad habits. A good coach can coach them right out of him.

Do I hope Crompton is the man yes. Can we afford another season like this..No. In the mean time, lets hope Ainge can get his head on straight. I am not ready to send him back to Hillsboro just yet.

Ok, so let's say that Crompton gets the start next year, who's going to be our number 2 guy if Ainge goes home like you want him to?

agreed. Ainge just needs some 1-1 intensive mechanics sharpening and possibly a little psych evaluating and boosting.

Don't blame it all on Ainge. What about the defense giving up a 80 yard catch and run to ND after we tied 21-21. Way to go Chavis/Slade!! :realmad:

COACHING for Quinn! Ainge was 13 of 37 for 187 yds and TWO interceptions, TWO illegal grounding penalties and ONE td. I understand we are looking for a Juco qb. Ainge lost his nuts, get rid of him, he stinks. It's Crompton and whomever else we recruit or have left. Don't hang onto dead wood!!!!!!

I think Crompton is the most highly recruited qb prospect we have had at UT since Manning and Shuler.

Ainge hasnt done anything this year to improve his chances of starting next year IMO.

I think Crompton gets the QB starting job, and we wont see Ainge anymore unless Crompton gets hurt.

That puts UT in the same boat with GA, Bama and possibly Fla. I think with coaching the Vols can play Ainge and have a leg up all the other teams in the SEC who will be replacing QBs.

I think he is dropping his nuts every Friday night before the game and not preparing. You can coach that out of him.

Lex, he is terrified. Anytime an opponant gets near him he chucks the ball somewhere. He don't care as long as he don't get hit. He is terrified and finished. You cannot coach that out of a player!

I think three step drops can do the trick, but only time will tell.

He would also be helped by taking that #$@# green jersey off in practice.

Sarge blaming Ainge's lack of production on a "nitwit" call is absurd, even for you. You could run that play 1000 times and Ainge only gets hurt once.

I think the game is moving too fast for him right now and I won't disagree that play may be in the back of his mind. I think he showed flashes of hanging in there and stepping up to avoid the rush. Believe it or not, you can blame a lot of Ainge's problems on the receivers not running good routes, dropping balls, and running wrong routes (cough, cough, Chris Hannon).

Amen Freak. Not to mention that he has been splitting reps all year. That hasn't helped this situation at all.

i think ainge did a heck of a job

the recievers droped too many passes that ainge trew

you cant be perfect everytime

and at least fulmer stayed with one qb the whole game

fulmer in my opinion better get to recruiting a QB this season if he wants to save his job. ainge does not look good, crompton coming back from shoulder surgery. man if both of them fail there is a good chance that we could be 5-6 with alot of those games being played at home. that i believe would spell the end of the fulmer era.

If we cannot get production out of one of those guys we are in a world of hurt. The talent is there. The preparation is lacking.

i'm beginning to believe ainge doesn't have the head to be a good college QB. too many dumb plays, too many mistakes.

:( Ainge did not play that bad. He needs more game time. He has been yanked to many times to have gained confidence in his ability.
I am new here but why so much hatred for these young men.

Be careful. They aren't hating, they just don't think Ainge will pan out. Only time will tell.
