Erik Ainge’s attempt to call out Lane Kiffin on Twitter backfires, makes a fool of himself

Anyone on Twitter should know that Lane’s game on the app is undefeated, and Ainge makes himself look completely childish with his jabs at Kiffin, who didn’t initiate anything from what we can tell.

Not sure what Ainge thought he would accomplish with this tweet, but all that it did was embarrass him quite a lot and give Kiffin another Twitter W. You come at the King, you best not miss.

Freaking stupid on Ainge. I have lost respect for him on this one.
Kiffin may very well be UT’s best option to start winning again.
I’d love to have him back

Lane Kiffin has much better chance being elected President of the United States than ever being Tennessee's coach again. He screwed that up.

No, Hamilton screwed it up because he didn’t know how to lock down a good coach with a solid contract. His buyout was nothing. Kiffin just exercised his contract and operated within the four corners of it. It’s that simple. And today we are still paying for the incompetence of our administration over there.

WMNL took a couple L's yesterday that's for sure. Makes me happy because they are terrible radio and act like they are better than everyone else. They needed to be taken down a notch or two!

Kiffin would deliver an almost immediate turnaround.

He’s the only one out there who can.

I'll admit I'm not on the Lane Train as I have concerns whether or not he's matured enough to run our program. With that being said, I have taken a look at the best, worst case options with Kiffin and Doeren

Kiffin (Best Case) - Builds program, recruits well, competes annually to win SEC East. (Worst Case) - Wins but encounters NCAA violations/bowl ban

Doeren (Best Case) - Musters up enough victories where we have a driveable bowl game (Birmingham)
(Worst Case) - No bowl eligibility 3 out of 4 years.

The worst case is similar (no bowls) but the ceiling is much, much higher with Kiffin...

The fact is that Ainge hates Kiffin. He went off about it on radio a couple of days ago and now with this latest move, all he has done is make a fool of himself. He has interjected himself into this fray and he is supposed to be a part of the media that reports on these things.

Ainge is "off the chain".

It's the same dynamic that goes on here all the time. When you respond to a troll, the troll just won.

We took Doug Dickey back after he raw dogged you, yo mama, yo daddy, and every friend and family member that loves UT sports thrice worse than anything Lane Kiffin ever did. Seemed to work out, even though I detest him to this day for it.

Kiffin is the king of BS. Don't care how foolish you think it was, Ainge told him he didn't want him here. I would rather see Tennessee football come to an end before Kiffin is a part of it again. He is a POS. Why don't you silly little boys quit lusting over him? I don't get it.

Cuz he's the only name left on the hot board that people don't have to Google.

Sad that Ainge probably does think he’s some sort of royalty all because he has a few records at UT. It’s like dude, that was a decade ago...

It was a bad decision to tweet out that DM but if you had seen or he had tweeted the DMs he had been getting from Kiffin for days making fun of him and UT asking if we hired anyone yet over and over leading up to that exchange it would have had more context. He handled it poorly but was an emotional lapse.

And yes he is a friend and to call him a pill popping whatever a few posts up could not be further from the truth.

Said my piece.

OP isn't doing Ainge any favors by making it look like he actually said what's in the thread title. The author of the article said that.

I wonder how much it pays to sit around writing articles based on what you read on twitter.
