Ainge, Tee and these guys make me so proud to be a Vol on this day.

Another Phil/Cutcliffe guy, but Ainge completely shreds Kiffin:

Highlights:

SNY.tv: New York Jets Home

Erik Ainge wasn't crazy about his alma mater hiring Lane Kiffin.
He was even more bummed when Kiffin officially came aboard.

But now that Kiffin's gone, now that Tennessee's free of his trash-talking, violation-drawing mouth, Ainge still isn't doing any happy dance.

"To just up and leave after talking the big game that he talked," Ainge said, "I don't agree with that."

Sitting in his locker at the Jets training facility Wednesday, the second-year quarterback and former Tennessee Vol looked around at his current teammates talking about this weekend's divisional playoff game at San Diego. Then he put his head back down, shook his head and said, "It's disappointing. It's just disappointing."

...

Emotions at Tennessee are obviously raw, but they were in Florham Park too. Ainge said when Pete Carroll left USC for the Seahawks this weekend, he didn't even consider the possibility that Kiffin -- a USC assistant from 2001-06 -- would angle for the job.

"Obviously not -- he just signed on at Tennessee," he said. "The job at Tennessee is a big time job, it's not one of those jobs you just leave. It's not like it's a small school, it's not like it's a job you don't want to have. It's a big time job."

...

The Jets took him with their fifth round pick in 2008 and even as he admitted that college sometimes feels "far away" -- he never played for Kiffin, only Phil Fulmer -- he also said an insult to his school doesn't sting any less.

If this is Ainge livid, I'd hate to meet him when his only slightly peeved or merely inconvenienced.

EriK is right. Listen to the players and bring Fulmer, Chief and Cut back to right this ship. And pay them like the littens and ogre. There are not any reliable coaches out there that we can trust to stay...if they are successful.

I think Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and Nick Saban were the true downfall of Tennessee. We had the talent. We just couldn't keep up with the coaching.

Fulmer and Spurrier were so 1999.

IT obviously was too big for him, let face it. He talked so much crap while he was here he knew he wasn't going to be able to live up to it. He knows he's got an easier road to BCS games out there, so he left.

He just wasn't man enough to coach in the SEC and he figured that out and knew if he didn't get out now he's never get another job like fulmer.

He will be exposed out there...

Who is Erik Ainge?
Oh a guy that used to walk by the UC and see students in line and tell his girlfriend: "See that? They're here in line to see me on Saturday."
Also the guy that was the 4th stringer for the Jets last year that got suspended while in the IR for the use of steroids.

Ainge is an alum who has every right to speak his mind. I understand his anger. Kiffin cheapened the position of HC at UT, and deserves any heat that comes his way, imo.

I posted it, and you can check my previous posts, adn I don't like Ainge. Have never been a fan, but he's spoken out in support of the university, at that is always something I can dig. He's a Vol.

Yes, lets. Let's go back to the days of mediocrity.

Right the ship. Weren't they just fired a year ago for almost sinking the ship?

Ainge was not one of my favorite Vol QB's but as we all know there was only one Manning (oops) forgot about dad and brothers.... but I degress.... however Ainge was a Vol who left it on the field for the orange and white, which is more that 99.9% of most on this board. He has won the right in battle to say what he wants to say
