Man, he must be from California or just north of there or something, he gets hurt every time he turns around...He may be good but damn boy you've been in the South now for four years, toughin the hell up or start fillin poweraide cups!

Forgive me if I'm being slow...but is that sarcasm? He is from Oregon

I'm not taking up for guys from California (or Oregon), but Casey Clausen was a tough SOB.

C'mon guys. It's a jammed pinky on Tuesday. We've all jammed a finger before (or at least a lot of us). It will be fine by Friday or Saturday. This isn't as big of a deal as it is being made to be.

If Ainge doesn't INSIST on playing, and he will, then he's not the senior leader at QB we need him to be anyway. He can overcome a freaking jammed pinky. If he can't, then we are better off getting the next guy in anyway. This is football, not table tennis.

Being out here on the left coast- just thought I'd add that Cal and its fans are talking big and looking for revenge for last year's game.
I hope there's a lot of other Orange nation people with me in the stands on Saturday.

I would be worried if it was his thumb, pointer finger or middle finger. The pinky is the least important finger when throwing a football.

I've jammed fingers a lot, and they've been sore 4 days later. Still, I'm feeling better than I was 30 minutes ago.

VIA is just a die hard I know how he feels.

Yeah but freaking out isn't going to change whether Ainge plays or not (he will). So we just gotta hope everything goes as planned. I'm as die hard as anyone out there, but I understand flipping out isn't gonna help matters.

OK...I've made myself not post for about an hour now......at first I was wigging out...then just laughed and shook my head...now, I'm settling down. If it is definitely just a jammed finger, then I'm confident that he will start. I am worried now that if he takes a hit and catches himself (it doesn't even have to be a hard hit), he could get a lot of pain that could affect his next throws. While the pinky is the least important finger, the pain can be a factor in taking the snap...and these guys throw into a VERY tight window. I just want the other guys to be ready in case he takes a hit and throws up a pick on the next play. But, I am confident that he will start...and this really shouldn't be an issue come gameday. It looks like others here are more calm than me...and I'm not too bad...but a little uneasy here...

If anything I'd just consider this some mind games by Fulmer. "Oh no, our senior dropback qb might not play. Cal better prepare a little in case our sophmore that likes to run plays."

No way a jammed pinky should keep him out of a game 5 days from now.

This thread reminds me of the car crash thread right before last year's Cal game....except that was a joke (and a bad one at that)

Question???

As has been mentioned in this thread the pinky finger does not come into play much when throwing the football but it does come into play on the snap under center. If EA's finger is still a problem come game time there should be more use of the shotgun formation to alleviate some of the risk of re-injury. If the Vols are using the shotgun more, maybe even exclusively, what effect does it have on the running game?

I cant wait until IE 95 tells us how this is a good thing

We've heard a bit of that already. In no way is this a good thing. Our gameplan is in its final stages with a senior QB ready to lead us on the field. SENIOR QB. I like that....sore pinky or not (until he throws a pick and holds his hand afterward..then I'm OK with Number 8 :) ).
